"Intelligence Winner" Kevin O'Leary reveals the two major cryptocurrencies that institutions are

Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary made a sharp observation on Platform X, bluntly stating that the altcoin noise in the current rally is just a passing sight. He pointed out that institutional-level crypto assets are being integrated around the two assets, and even if regulation opens the door to more funds, this pattern will not change.

"I think the institutional crypto market is becoming a market for two assets: Bitcoin and Ethereum," O'Leary wrote on X. "Once regulation opens the door for more institutional capital, investors will focus on assets that have captured most of the market's volatility and liquidity."

Why two assets

O'Leary's argument is straightforward: Institutional investors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and asset management companies do not blindly invest in pursuit of volatility. Before deploying funds, they need deep liquidity, a clear regulatory framework, and mature custody infrastructure.

Bitcoin and Ethereum are the largest and most liquid spot ETF products in the United States-although XRP, Solana and Dogecoin have also launched spot ETFs-but the market value of both are still far ahead. The market value of Bitcoin is approximately US$1.58 trillion, and Ethereum is approximately US$300 billion. The two total US$1.91 trillion, accounting for approximately 69% of the total market value of the entire crypto market (approximately US$2.77 trillion).

O'Leary also added a forward-looking observation that goes beyond the "two assets" theory: "The real opportunity lies in figuring out which blockchain will become the standard for everything from contracts to logistics." He sees the infrastructure layer as the next battleground, not the token itself.
