The price of Lighter (LIT) broke through a record high. On-chain data revealed a false increase in trading volume and capital outflow.
As of September 3, 2026, the trading price of Lighter (LIT) was US$3.84, up 11.64% in the past 24 hours, and the price directly broke the record high. However, on-chain data shows that there is a serious inflated transaction volume in this token, and net tokens are flowing outside the exchange.
This rise has brought LIT prices close to record highs. The historical high of the token also appeared on September 3, 2026 at US$3.83, which was in line with the day's surge, which meant that the price had hardly fallen back from its peak. This is in sharp contrast to the cyclical low of $0.81 approximately five months ago (March 31, 2026).
The current rally is price discovery, not rebound repair
Unlike recovering lost ground, today's rise is price discovery: based on historical price data on the chain, LIT is hitting a new high rather than retreating to its previous peak. From the bottom to the current price, the token rose from US$0.81 to US$3.84, during which time the cumulative wallet continued to increase its supply and did not sell.
Among the available evidence, a single catalyst for the September 3 surge cannot be identified. Lighter's own announcement channels and product updates based on TradingView charts both record ongoing exchange development work, but neither of them are timestamped with today's market, so the catalyst is still in an unconfirmed state rather than confirmed state.
Volume data inflated due to reverse trading
The report shows that the 24-hour transaction volume is close to US$100 million, but this data needs to be viewed with caution: on-chain screening results show that 83.3% of transfers are reversed transactions, and 643 wallets are classified as net zero, revolving and round-trip modes. Excluding these data, actual participation is well below what nominal volume suggests.
Retail circulation is extremely small, users hold approximately 0.06% of the classified supply, and the token is listed at balanced prices on five exchanges. This extremely small amount of free circulation is a structural background, allowing a small amount of real buying to drive prices up sharply.
The flow of funds on the exchange turned into a net outflow today.
On September 3, the flow of net tokens reversed and turned into a net outflow. 78,641 more LITs were withdrawn from the exchange than deposited, while on September 2 there was a net inflow. A net outflow indicates that the tokens are leaving exchange custody and is often interpreted as an immediate reduction in selling pressure.
(The data table has been converted into a textual description: on September 3, 134,161 pieces were deposited on the exchange, 212,802 pieces were withdrawn, with a net outflow of 78,641 pieces; on September 2, 1,100,000 pieces were deposited, 356,310 pieces were withdrawn, with a net outflow of-740,874 pieces; on September 1, 344,343 pieces were deposited, 1,050,000 pieces were withdrawn, with a net outflow of 709,679 pieces; On August 31, 83,802 pieces were deposited, 1,400,000 pieces were withdrawn, and a net outflow of 1,320,000 pieces was obtained; on August 30, 169,273 pieces were deposited, 12,999 pieces were withdrawn, and a net inflow of-156,274 pieces was obtained.)
The largest position address is the recent one-way wallet
According to wallet classification data, the top non-exchange wallets are all new wallets, and only display deposit transactions, with no corresponding transfer out. This model is in line with accumulation rather than distribution. Coinbase's hot wallet ranks second overall, holding approximately 1.13 million LITs.
(Wallet data list: Address 0xb586... 2477, unknown role, balance of 1.78 million pieces, accounting for 0.170% of supply, transferred in once/transferred out 0 times; address 0xa9d1... 3e43, Coinbase hot wallet, balance of 1.13 million pieces, accounting for 0.110% of supply, transferred 69 times/transferred 82 times; address 0xc882... f071, unknown, balance of 482,400 pieces, accounting for 0.040% of supply, transferred in once/transferred out 0 times; address 0xa40f... 7795, unknown, balance of 48,000 pieces, accounting for 0.040% of the supply, transferred in once/transferred out 0 times.)
This contract is deployed on Ethereum at the address 0x232c... 4ee2, automated screening found no key risks, and no minting, honeypot or pause functions were detected. Another report separately discussed changes in Lighter's token economy, linking the repurchase of LITs to permanent destruction. This supply mechanism deserves to be considered in conjunction with the accumulation phenomenon on the chain.
Follow-up Points
As LIT hits a record high, key short-term signals include: whether exchange net traffic can maintain the net outflow trend on September 3 or reverse the net inflow on September 2; and whether high-ranking young wallets (showing only one transfer and zero transfers) will start transferring tokens to exchange deposit addresses. Any reversal means distributing in strength; while persistence means that the dynamics of extremely low liquidity remain unchanged.
The proportion of inverted transactions is the second measure: since 83.3% of transfers are marked, any sustainable increase requires an increase in real transaction volume as a proportion of total transactions. Previous price movements for LIT, including fluctuations related to the reported Lighter-Circle USDC revenue sharing arrangement, suggest that the token is sensitive to dynamic responses at the platform level, so Lighter's announcement channel is the main venue for possible confirmation catalysts.
Lighter (LIT) prices surge FAQs
Why is Lighter (LIT) rising today?
LIT rose 11.64% to US$3.84 on September 3, 2026, setting a record high, but no single catalyst was confirmed in the available data. Real-time data can be viewed on relevant LIT pages.
Is the rally driven by news or speculation?
The evidence does not link this move to any dated announcements, so it should be regarded as a momentum move in extremely low retail circulation, rather than a confirmed news event.
Can LIT prices continue to rise?
This depends on whether real demand can offset the 83.3% share of inverted transactions and whether net outflows from exchanges can be sustained. Neither is guaranteed, and the price is already at an all-time high, with no buffer underneath.
What should traders focus on next?
Daily exchange net traffic directions, top one-way wallets, and any timestamped updates on Lighter's official channels.
