APX Lending launches five-year Bitcoin and Ethereum mortgage credit lines

[TAG APX Lending Launches Canada's First Regulated Digital Asset Mortgage Revolving Credit Facility

On September 3, APX Lending, Canada's first regulated digital asset mortgage lender, announced the launch of a five-year revolving credit facility. The service allows customers to borrow against Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH), or a combination of both. According to the company announcement, the credit product does not charge any initiation fees, prepayment fees or liquidation fees and provides collateral insurance coverage of up to $250 million.

Revolving Credit Facility

Unlike APX's previous term loans, which supported only a single asset (BTC or ETH) collateral, this new facility allows multiple asset portfolios to be used to calculate the overall borrowing limit. For example, a customer holding $200,000 in Bitcoin and $100,000 in Ethereum can apply a total of $300,000 in collateral value to the same credit line; at a loan-to-value ratio (LTV) of 60%, the customer can obtain a borrowing capacity of up to $180,000.

The annualized interest rate ranges from 10.49% to 11.99% depending on the outstanding balance. Interest is only calculated on the amount actually withdrawn, so the borrower does not have to pay any fees for the unused portion of the amount.

This revolving structure allows customers to establish a credit line once and then flexibly withdraw, repay and borrow again based on demand, without having to reapply for a new loan every time. The available credit limit will dynamically adjust with the market value of the collateral: when the pledged Bitcoin and Ethereum appreciate, the limit will increase accordingly; otherwise, it will decrease.

Regulated Lending Framework

APX is the first digital asset mortgage lender to be approved by the Canadian securities regulator and is registered with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (FINTRAC) and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Toronto, the company currently covers term loans, revolving credit and a "Lending-as-a-Service" platform, allowing banks and fintech companies to provide their customers with products based on APX technology.

Andrei Poliakov, founder and CEO of

, said: "Revolving credit lines are a repeated demand from our customers. You may need funds to buy today, invest three months later, and pay business fees at the end of the year. You shouldn't have to start a new loan every time."

Credit markets backed by crypto-assets continue to expand

This release marks a further expansion of the crypto asset mortgage market. Ledn recently predicted that the size of the Bitcoin mortgage market could reach US$1 trillion in the next decade. At the same time, major banks have also begun to accept digital assets as collateral. For example, Russia's Federal Reserve Bank (Sberbank) plans to accept Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT as collateral to issue loans.

APX's move shows that as borrowing limits remain tied to the market value of pledged crypto assets, regulated lenders are transitioning from single transaction loans to products that mimic traditional bank revolving credit lines.
