XRP prices hover around US$1.40, and whale holdings are picking up. Analysts are concerned about the opportunity to break through US$1.46.
XRP (Ripple) trading price is close to US$1.40. At the same time, the increase in whale accounts rebounded. The daily book transaction volume continued to remain above 2 million, and the value of open futures contracts reached US$3.13 billion. Against this backdrop, analyst Ali Martinez is closely watching the possibility of a price breakthrough towards $1.46.
Core Points
- XRP whale holdings resumed in September, after this indicator mainly showed a net outflow in late August.
- The daily trading volume of the XRP ledger remained at more than 2 million times, and the open interest in futures reached US$3.13 billion.
- Martinez pointed out that if the hourly closing price stabilizes above $1.40, it may support a move towards $1.46.
XRP Capital Flow Analysis
According to the "30-Day Moving Average of Whale Traffic" data released by CryptoQuant, XRP's increase in whale holdings in September re-strengthened, which contrasts with the previous weak trend in late August. The shift suggests that selling pressure on large holders is easing. In early August, as the XRP price exceeded US$1.20 and then US$1.40, net inflow of whale funds dominated the market; however, the indicator turned mainly negative around August 26.
The reversal at the end of August resulted in an average daily outflow of approximately 3 million XRPs, while exchange deposits also accelerated. Recent data shows that as Internet activity remains high, whale holdings have begun to resume. As of early September, the daily transaction volume of XRP ledger has remained above 2 million, and the number of active accounts and payments have also remained at a high level.
Institutional capital flows provide another signal of support. SoSoValued data shows that the cumulative inflow of spot XRP ETFs is US$1.68 billion. As whale holdings resumed, asset management exceeded US$1.48 billion, and derivatives activity also strengthened. The total value of open interest in XRP futures rose 0.81% to US$3.13 billion in four hours.
Ali Martinez's technical outlook
Cryptocurrency analyst Ali Martinez identified a falling triangle on the XRP hourly chart. He pointed out that once the price is confirmed to exceed $1.40, it will open a channel for an upward movement towards $1.46. He advised traders to wait until the hourly close firmly above $1.40, the current direct technical trigger, before entering.
From a long-term perspective, Martinez views US$3.66 as a key resistance level. He said that if the monthly closing price breaks through that position, it may activate a technical target of about $60. This forecast far exceeds current prices and relies on the occurrence of a major breakthrough. Despite this, futures positions showed moderate buying interest: four-hour open interest on the CME platform rose nearly 1%, Binance platform rose 0.80%, and Hyperliquid platform rose 1.15%.
Currently, XRP is trading at about $1.40, having previously fallen from about $1.60 and stabilized in the range of $1.35 to $1.45. The recent rebound occurred after late August, when whale capital flows were negative, exchange deposits increased, and price momentum weakened until September began to resume.
