XRP Healthcare encounters security breach: community response overpowers
A high-profile incident has occurred in the XRPL ecosystem. XRP Healthcare (formerly XRPayNet) suffered a major security attack on September 3, 2026. Hackers stole balances from thousands of mobile wallets in just three hours. According to reports, approximately 267,000 XRPs and millions of related tokens were quickly transferred to the Ethereum network.
How did the vulnerability occur?
The root cause of the problem is traced to security flaws related to the transmission of private key seed phrases. When the pledge feature is enabled, this sensitive information is sent to the server. This suggests that the attacker targeted the most vulnerable aspects of wallet security, compromising user assets.
Former Ripple developers express concerns
Afterwards, discussions on Platform X revealed that some former Ripple developers have long since distanced themselves from the project. One of the developers, BiasGoose, was not surprised by the leak, citing past experience of being rejected for funding applications and pointing out what he believed was mishandling the team.
The development team conducted a comprehensive investigation of the attack, tracked the flow of funds along the chain, and worked with authorities to freeze and recover stolen assets. However, BiasGoose criticized the Uganda-related health initiative project, implying that there were misleading partnership statements during the project application process, seemingly to gain financial support and create false interest.
BiasGoose argued that the project itself did not require its own tokens, arguing that the structure lacked legitimacy.
Who should bear the responsibility?
In response, the project team accused former Ripple employees of unethical behavior in their criticism. They emphasize their transparency in taking responsibility and believe external critics are simply downplaying the risks faced by others.
With BiasGoose's response, the conversation escalated further. He emphasized that unlike app developers, he has never been in a position to risk offending other people's funds. This not only revealed the technical aspects of the leak, but also reignited the debate about trust in the historical context of the project.
This incident highlights two core issues facing the cryptocurrency community: the coordinated action of the project team to recover assets; and the emphasis of former industry figures on long-ignored red flags.
- Security vulnerability is related to seed phrase transmission during pledge.
- XRP Healthcare is actively working with relevant authorities to recover assets.
- Continuing debate questions the project's past decision-making and transparency.
The XRP Healthcare leak exposed a significant security breach and sparked severe scrutiny from former insiders. Although responses are underway, the crisis of confidence in the broader cryptocurrency project remains a key concern.
