Analysts point to Ethereum's breakthrough form, with a target price of $15,000

Ethereum (ETH) is testing a key resistance level for the third time in what analysts call "the largest breakthrough pattern in history"

Ethereum (ETH) is retesting a resistance line previously only touched around 2021 and 2025. Trader Crypto Patel said this allowed the cryptocurrency to usher in its "largest breakthrough form" to date.

Patel outlined a potential path in a chart released on Friday: If the resistance line is breached, ETH prices are expected to look towards $5,000,$10,000, and eventually $15,000. Although ETH was trading at close to $2,500 at the time, it was still well below half its all-time high.

Chart logic supporting the $15,000 target forecast

Patel pointed out when sharing this chart that traces the downtrend line from 2018 to 2021:"ETH is testing the multi-year resistance zone for the third time after holding on to long-term accumulated support." The trend line marked three gradually decreasing highs before the 2021 bull market broke out.

This horizontal resistance line suppressed the market at the price peak in 2021 and will play a role again around 2025. The current test is seen as the third touch on that resistance line. Below this, the broad area that analysts call the "best accumulation area" has captured every major correction since then, with an upward trend line running through it, and ETH is currently just above that trend line, with the chart reading at about $2,460.

The target price is more detailed than the $5,000,$10,000 and $15,000 briefly mentioned in Patel's title. The chart itself marks $3,270 and $4,892 as the first two key levels and notes $5,500 before the path opens to $10,000 and $15,000.

As of writing, spot ETH has not changed much in the past 24 hours, but the weekly decline is about 1%, down about 44% from the same period last year. However, it has risen 31% in the past month, although the increase still keeps its price below 50% of the all-time high set in August 2025. Trading volume surged nearly 28% in the past 24 hours to approximately $16.3 billion, indicating new market activity near the prices Patel is focusing on.

Experts differ in opinions: Breakthrough or pullback?

Analyst NoName expressed a different perspective on Thursday, pointing out that ETH has just completed a wave 3 push and wrote: "The next stage of the structure should be the adjustment of Wave 4."

He listed US$2,324 as the first support level to focus on. If the buyer can hold on to this position, the price may rebound to the $2,784 to $2,966 range; if it fails, it may fall to the $2,112 to $2,222 range. Only if the day's closing price falls below $2,050 will this bullish pattern be completely overturned.

Several other market observers are also closely watching the $2,500 to $2,550 area. Some expect prices to move towards $3,000 if a strong weekly close is achieved above resistance, while others foreclose prices to fall back to near $2,000 first.
