RLUSD and XRP serve different treasury functions

Ripple's product data describes that XRP and RLUSD serve different functions. XRP is freely traded on the open market, while RLUSD is targeted at a fixed value of one dollar. Ripple said that under applicable terms, RLUSD can still be converted into U.S. dollars on a one-to-one ratio.

Ripple's transparency page shows that as of September 3, RLUSD in circulation was US$2.3956 billion. Reserve funds listed at the same reporting date were $2,517.7 million. Ripple said the segregated reserve contains cash and other qualified liquid assets.

Ripple expands its corporate payments strategy

Ripple has been building an ecosystem around treasury management, payments, custody and stablecoins. Its treasury platform now combines traditional cash management functions with digital asset access. In addition, Ripple also selected Bank of New York Mellon as the main custodian of RLUSD reserves in 2025.

Therefore, the latest treasury news is in line with existing corporate strategies. It does not establish new Stripe support, nor does it guarantee corporate adoption of XRP or RLUSD. Market data also showed that XRP remained volatile, while RLUSD remained near the target dollar price.
