- Galaxy Research
Lee further cited signs of renewed institutional interest, viewing institutional demand as a factor that could help support subsequent markets if technical positions were maintained.
For traders, this combination-improved weekly chart structure and evidence of deleveraging and increased participation-explains why the 50-week recovery is seen as more than just a week anomaly.
Other key prices still attract attention
Not everyone agrees that the 50-week moving average is the decisive checkpoint for judging a bull market. Cryptocurrency trader Craig Cobb said he does not use the 50-week level as the main trigger. Instead, he highlighted $83,000 as a key threshold.
According to Cobb, a breakthrough of $83,000 means there are no lower highs on the monthly chart-which means the long-term trend is no longer downward. His second condition is related to Bitcoin's quarterly chart pattern: He is observing a sequence of red quarterly candles then turning to green candles, and then one candle breaks through the green candle high.
Cobb said that this red-to-green transition has occurred 15 times in Bitcoin history. He pointed out that in 11 of these cases, the high point of the first green candle was later exceeded, and each time the result eventually reached a new historical high. Based on this, he believes that investors should focus on specific technical confirmations rather than relying on a single moving average.
His framework links cycle interpretation more directly to the trend structure of higher time frames-a useful reminder that different traders often view the 50-week indicator as an auxiliary signal rather than the basis for the entire argument.
Looking ahead, the most important question is whether Bitcoin can stay above the 50-week moving average and continue to form higher lows, as Lee suggested. Investors and traders are likely to pay close attention to the extra weekly close around the $78,788 area, while others may shift their attention to higher breakout levels, such as $83,000 and confirmation of quarterly patterns.
