Building on Friday's 8% gain, Bitmine shares rose a further 5.8% in pre-market trading on Monday. At the same time, ETH prices also reached their highest level since the end of January.
Tom Lee's Market Outlook
Tom Lee pointed out that after favoring AI-related stocks at the beginning of the year, institutional investors have reduced their allocation of cryptocurrencies for most of 2026. However, according to CoinDesk, Ethereum prices have risen 76% since the end of June, while the S & P 500 index has risen only about 2% over the same period.
Lee sees this gap as a potential catalyst. "We expect institutional investors to significantly increase their exposure to crypto assets in the last three months of 2026," he said. At the same time, he also mentioned the trend of tokenization and the application of blockchain technology in the field of artificial intelligence. These arguments explain why Bitmine continues to expand its already large positions despite Ethereum's sharp rise in the third quarter.
It needs to be emphasized that this is only Lee's view of market trends, not an established fact. However, Bitmine's nearly 6 million ETH positions do demonstrate a corporate treasury management strategy: by directly holding token exposure and combining pledge proceeds, it accounts for nearly one-twentieth of the reported circulation supply.
Bitmine launched its Ethereum treasury strategy on June 30, 2025, and said it has purchased ETH every week since then, steadily moving towards its announced 5% supply target.
