LINK Chainlink launches CCIP Vault Adapters to support deposits from more than 80 blockchain networks.
Chainlink recently officially launched its CCIP Vault Adapters (Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol Vault Adapters), an infrastructure update. This feature allows decentralized finance (DeFi) vault providers to accept deposits from more than 80 blockchain networks while running investment strategies and accounting on a single network. Chainlink reports that leading DeFi platforms Aave, Lombard and Maple have been the first to integrate this new solution.
Streamlining the cross-chain deposit process in DeFi
CCIP Vault Adapters aims to address the long-standing obstacles that have plagued cross-chain DeFi, allowing users to deposit assets from different blockchains into vaults that manage policies only on one chain. This allows users who hold assets on multiple networks to participate in a single-chain treasury strategy without having to manually migrate funds.
Chainlink is a blockchain oracle network focused on providing real-world data for smart contracts and achieving interoperability between networks. Among them, CCIP (Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol) is its mechanism used to securely transfer values and instructions between blockchain environments.
Chainlink said the adoption of these adapters by Aave, Lombard and Maple demonstrates the industry's immediate interest and is expected to improve access efficiency and convenience for existing DeFi participants. The purpose of this release is to unleash greater engagement for DeFi Treasury by addressing a key technical challenge-enabling seamless deposits from different networks without duplicating policy and accounting functions on each network.
