During the two-week testnet window period, developers can check whether Zakura and Zebra are consistent when generating blocks under the new block rules. Exchanges, indexers and block browsers will also have the opportunity to test whether their systems can process higher block frequencies without falling behind.

Therefore, November 5 is a target date rather than a guaranteed activation date. If consensus mismatches, performance issues, or infrastructure failures are discovered in the test net, upgrades may still be delayed.

NU7 release package scope reduction

The planned upgrade includes three major changes: a target block time of 25 seconds, removal of support for version 4 transactions, and integration of network sustainability mechanisms.

NU7 will not introduce new transaction formats. Removing this work from release means fewer consensus changes that must be implemented and tested before November. The forum announcement stated that wallets under maintenance should not require major changes. Users do not need to transfer funds, create new addresses, or convert existing ZECs before activating.

The software that still creates version 4 transactions is another separate issue. After NU7, these transactions will no longer be accepted, so obsolete or outdated wallet software may not work properly. Users who rely on actively maintained wallets should obtain necessary compatibility changes through normal software updates.
