Bitcoin pulled back, and the two old forked currencies surged against the trend.

On September 23, Bitcoin (BTC) fell back to around $84,000 after hitting a seven-month high of nearly $87,250 earlier this week. Although the flagship currency has retreated, its two oldest forked currencies have risen sharply amid successive positive incentives.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) surged 30% to $358 this week before cooling in trading on Wednesday.

Bitcoin SV (BSV) followed closely by about 20%, climbing to around $21, hitting its highest level in a year. Even against the background of the overall cooling of the market, these two tokens still achieved significant increases.

Two forks, two catalysts

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) originated from a hard fork of Bitcoin in August 2017. At the time, some developers were divided over block size and created a new chain aimed at enabling cheaper and faster transactions. Subsequently, in a 2018 controversy known as the "Hash War", Bitcoin SV (BSV) was separated from Bitcoin cash. At the time, Craig Wright's faction argued for larger blocks and a return to the original Bitcoin design it described. Since their respective bifurcations, both networks have been trading well below Bitcoin (BTC) in price and volume, with occasional sharp rallies associated with specific events.
