Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETF fund flows diverge: BTC returned to net inflow, ETH suffered its largest outflow in weeks

During the latest trading session, U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) The flow of funds showed completely different trends. Bitcoin-related products returned to net inflows, while the Ethereum ETF suffered its largest withdrawal of funds in weeks.

Bitcoin ETF is back in positive flow, mainly driven by BlackRock products.

Data shows that spot Bitcoin ETF recorded a net inflow of US$118.8 million on October 6, reversing the net outflow of US$89.8 million in the previous trading day. Among them, BlackRock's IBIT covered almost all buying operations, attracting $122 million in funds; Morgan Stanley's MSBT increased inflows by $7.8 million; and Grayscale's Bitcoin fund recorded outflows of $11 million. The remaining funds had no capital flow records on that day.

Although the Bitcoin ETF has seen a positive return of funds, the market performance of Bitcoin itself has been relatively weak. For most of October 6, Bitcoin prices fluctuated within the mid-range of $85,000, before coming under pressure on October 7. At present, the price of Bitcoin has fallen below the US$85,000 mark, with a decline of approximately 2.07% as of press time.

The overall cryptocurrency market is also facing multiple pressures such as rising oil prices, high U.S. Treasury yields, a stronger U.S. dollar and clearing leveraged long positions.

Ethereum ETF outflows accelerate, investor sentiment becomes cautious

In contrast, the performance of the Ethereum ETF is even weaker. On October 6, the Ethereum ETF recorded a net outflow of US$201.9 million, the sixth consecutive trading day that funds have been withdrawn and the largest single-day outflow in several weeks.

All the outflow came from BlackRock's ETHA fund, which made a single day of cash withdrawal of US$201.9 million, while other Ethereum ETFs had no capital flow records that day. This further exacerbates the dilemma of Ethereum investment products. In the past seven days, the spot Ethereum ETF has recorded a cumulative net outflow of approximately US$405 million; in contrast, the Bitcoin ETF still maintained a net inflow of approximately US$173 million during the same period.

With the continued withdrawal of ETF funds, the price trend of Ethereum is also under pressure. On October 6, the price of Ethereum briefly stood above $2,700, and then began to decline.

Summary

Overall, despite the decline in cryptocurrency prices, Bitcoin ETFs have successfully attracted new capital; while Ethereum's continued outflow of ETF funds indicates that investors are significantly more cautious about Ethereum.
