XRP analyst: Two characteristics may lay its core position in the tokenized financial system
Cryptocurrency analyst Mason Versluis outlined two specific characteristics of XRP that he believes may play a central role in future tokenization-based financial systems: one is its use of the "X" prefix in the ISO 4217 currency code, and the other is its limited supply of 100 billion coins.
XRP's "X" code is associated with ISO standards
In a video posted on social platform X, Fuslouis explained that XRP's "X" prefix connects the digital asset to the ISO 4217 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This standard is widely used by financial institutions around the world to specify currency codes. According to Fusluis, codes starting with "X" in the standard represent assets that are not pegged to any particular country's currency, and he cited the gold code XAU as an example.
He pointed out that this non-state nature may become particularly important if financial markets move further towards tokenized assets and cross-border settlements involving multiple currencies. Fusluis emphasized that the XRP is not pegged to any single country, which could make it an ideal bridge currency to promote fund transfers without state bias, especially in the context of accelerating global financial integration.
XRP's code that starts with an "X" reflects an asset design designed to operate beyond national borders. If tokenized assets and international payment platforms rely on digital assets that are neutral and independent of the country, this feature will become increasingly important.
However, the ISO 4217 convention does not assign future use scenarios or economic roles to XRP. The use of "X" only confirms that the asset does not belong to a specific country or government.

Discussion on XRP supply and transfer capabilities
Fisluis also talked about the maximum supply of XRP of 100 billion, saying that Ripple's development team deliberately created a much larger supply than other cryptocurrencies in order to efficiently process high-value transactions.
He compared the design of XRP to Bitcoin, which is limited to 21 million pieces, and questioned why the XRP team would choose such a large supply if scarcity was the core value proposition. Fusluis believes that having more tokens can provide greater flexibility, especially when dealing with value transfers on a global scale.
He further commented on the actual supply available for transactions, pointing out that a large number of tokens are held by Ripple and locked in escrow accounts, and estimated that the freely floating supply is approximately 60 billion XRPs. Custody mechanisms and reserves held by Ripple regularly affect the supply of liquidity, which in turn affects trading dynamics over time.
The 100 billion token supply is a thoughtful feature designed to support large-scale, high-value financial operations. Unlike models that focus on scarcity, XRP is designed to ensure the efficient flow of large amounts of money within the network.
Market Value Discussion and Price Clarification
The conversation expanded further when another user on X asked Fusluis about the market value of XRP. The user asked how the project justified the nearly $96 billion valuation when the price was below $2. The critic asked Fusluis to explain the relationship without mentioning price manipulation or assuming future adoption.
Fisluis responded with a basic market value calculation: multiplying the approximately 63 billion tokens in circulation by the current price of $1.50, resulting in a market value of just under $95 billion. He emphasized that market value is purely a function of these two indicators and does not directly determine the price of individual tokens, which depends on market demand and trading activity.
He concluded that $1.50 merely reflected what the market was willing to pay for each XRP at the time.
