BTC Mexican police raided illegal cryptocurrency mining dens in Puebla state
According to a statement issued by the Puebla state government on September 6 and Reuters reports, Mexican federal prosecutors, navy and state security officials launched a joint operation in a hidden location in the mountains of Puebla state and destroyed an illegal cryptocurrency mining den. During the operation, law enforcement agencies seized 300 graphics processing units (GPUs), 80 mid-voltage terminal equipment, 8 satellite antennas and a transformer.
The nest is located in a dilapidated building along an inaccessible gravel road in the Tlaola area, in the North Sierra Mountains. Currently, investigators are focusing on verifying whether the facility illegally stole electricity from the infrastructure of nearby hydropower stations, and tracking in depth whether the discovered cryptocurrencies were used to cover up funds derived from other criminal activities.
