CryptoRank ranks BNB Chain as the world's first RWA growth in 2026, but DeFiLlama data reveals a completely different reality.
CryptoRank recently announced that BNB Chain ranks first in the global RWA (real-world asset) growth in 2026 with the + US$3.6 billion increase recorded since January this year. Closely followed by Solana (+2.6 billion dollars) and Stellar (+2.5 billion dollars). It looks like a dazzling trophy. However, on the same day, September 12, DeFiLlama told a completely different story: Solana overtook Robinhood Chain in app revenue and 24-hour decentralized exchange (DEX) transaction volume, regaining its lead.
Two rankings, two cryptographic realities. Here are reasons why the two should not be confused.
Brief summary
- BNB Chain claims: RWA growth will reach +3.6 billion in 2026.
- Key differences: This data measures annual value changes, not crypto trading activity.
- Solana's performance: regains the top spot in global application revenue and 24-hour DEX transaction volume.
BNB Chain claims RWA growth will reach US$3.6 billion in 2026
On September 12, BNB Chain shared a chart produced by CryptoRank on the X platform, which ranks blockchains based on the growth in RWA value since the beginning of 2026. The main data are as follows:
- BNB Chain: + US$3.6 billion
- Solana:+ US$2.6 billion
- Stellar: + US$2.5 billion
- Ethereum: + US$1.6 billion
- Avalanche: + US$1 billion
- zkSync: The total value of RWAs on the + US$750 million
chain subsequently exceeded US$39 billion , an increase of more than 50% from January. However, there is an important prerequisite: the chart measures "change" rather than "stock". It does not specify total holding value, volume exchanged, revenue generated for the crypto network, or demand for BNB tokens. In addition, CryptoRank neither publishes data disaggregated by product nor discloses a complete methodology. We only know that BNB Chain has made progress, but it is unclear exactly how it has been achieved.
Four different stories can be told by the same dashboard
The RWA.xyz dashboard focused on BNB Chain shows three different dimensions of data: distributed assets valued at approximately US$5.6 billion , stablecoin market value at US$14.3 billion , and transfers within 30 days at US$14.9 billion . These three numbers represent three different definitions.
- Distributed value: does not reflect transaction frequency.
- stablecoins: belongs to a separate category and should not be confused with tokenized investment products.
- Transfer volume: Including the trading, redemption, bridging mobility of crypto issuers and the needs of real investors.
Currently, BNB Chain holds tokenized money funds, treasury-linked products, and tokenized stocks, with Franklin Templeton, Circle, BitGo and Ondo Global Markets being the major listed issuers. This concentration is common in a young and regulated market. But it also means that a few decisions are enough to drive changes in rankings, and do not necessarily reflect changes in real needs.
Solana regains the crown of real encryption activity
The RWA Growth Trophy looks beautiful on the infographic, but it is the encryption users who pay every day that are the key to maintaining the vitality of a blockchain. In this area, a completely different ranking was presented on September 12.
According to DeFiLlama data shared by SolanaNews.sol and Whale Insider accounts on the X platform, Solana regained its global 24-hour leadership with US$6.93 million in app revenue . Far ahead of BNB Chain, which ranks fifth, its revenue is only US$1.02 million , less than one-sixth of Solana's.
The same trend in 24-hour DEX trading volume, with Solana ranking first with $3.248 billion , followed by Robinhood Chain ($2.716 billion), Ethereum ($1.828 billion) and BSC ($1.332 billion).
So, on the same day that BNB Chain waved its RWA trophy, another ranking based on real encrypted network usage rather than the value of issued assets showed Solana far ahead. Technically speaking, these two figures are not contradictory, as a platform can dominate asset tokenization while remaining silent in terms of active transactions. However, flaunting RWA growth data without clearly stating what is measured is just telling a half-truth story.
What should we learn from BNB Chain's lead in RWA growth in 2026?
- BNB Chain claims: RWA growth will reach +3.6 billion in 2026, which is the largest change recorded, not the total value.
- Indicator differences: BNB Chain's own RWA.xyz indicator tells different stories when using different indicators (distributed value, stablecoin, transfer volume).
- Solana's advantages: On September 12, Solana regained first place in global 24-hour application revenue and DEX transaction volume, far surpassing BNB Chain.
- Limitations: Leading in tokenization value does not guarantee demand for domestic tokens or sustainable on-chain activities.
So, the real test for BNB Chain is not to add more issuers to the RWA.xyz form, but to prove that these assets continue to circulate after issuance. This involves secondary liquidity, collateral use and duplicate transactions. Before this proof emerged, two winning crypto chains were mainly showcased on September 12, but they did not compete on the same basis.
