Tokenization News: Ondo Finance signed a memorandum of understanding with KakaoPay Securities to expand international channels for South Korean listed stocks

Ondo Finance has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KakaoPay Securities to expand international access to South Korean listed stocks. The agreement aims to broaden the pool of overseas investors who can invest in South Korean companies.

The two companies signed the memorandum of understanding on September 28 at KakaoPay Securities 'headquarters in Banqiao. Chung Inyoung, Executive Vice President of KakaoPay Securities, and Matthieu de Vergnes, Managing Director and Head of Global Institutional Business of Ondo Finance, attended the signing ceremony on behalf of their respective companies.

Three major areas of cooperation

This memorandum of understanding outlines three areas that the two sides will jointly advance. These include establishing a Korean stock distribution framework for international markets, conducting joint research on tokenization infrastructure, and establishing a joint working group to evaluate business opportunities for retail investors outside South Korea.

As an initial step, the two companies will build a framework for acquiring and holding underlying South Korean shares that may ultimately support tokenized products. KakaoPay Securities will operate a comprehensive foreign investor account to manage the acquisition, custody and administration of these shares. The two sides will also jointly study the technical infrastructure required for token issuance and redemption, as well as balance management and reconciliation processes.

No commercial release confirmation
