SOL The Solana Foundation launches DvP settlement tool and joins hands with JPMorgan to optimize institutional transactions
The Solana Foundation recently released Solana DvP, an open source custodian program designed to simplify the institutional transaction settlement process for banks and major financial institutions on their blockchain networks.
Focus on Institutional Needs and Settlement Standardization
Solana DvP introduces a standard API for "Delivery-versus-Payment"(DvP) settlements. DvP is a mechanism widely used in the traditional financial sector to ensure that assets and payments are exchanged simultaneously. By migrating this process to the Solana blockchain, the Foundation is committed to recreating the security and reliability of mature financial markets in a digital environment.
The program is released under an MIT license and allows widespread use and modification by the industry. The Solana Foundation emphasized that J.P. Morgan, one of the world's largest banks, provided valuable insights into platform design and shared its expertise in institutional settlement procedures.
Solana DvP automates and compresses the settlement and clearing processes that are traditionally handled by clearing houses and custodians and often take multiple days into a single atomic transaction. In this system, both parties to a transaction either complete the settlement together or none, minimizing counterparty risk and improving efficiency.
