VELO The market value of Aerodrome Finance's $AERO token is close to the US$1 billion mark. Can it be among the DeFi blue chips?
The market value of Aerodrome Finance's $AERO token is gradually approaching the US$1 billion milestone, which has sparked discussions in the market about whether it can join the mature DeFi blue-chip camp. According to relevant reports, the token has increased by approximately 74% in the past month, pushing its market value to approximately US$966 million. Other data providers showed relatively small increases over the same period.
According to Cryptonews, Aerodrome's $AERO token rose 48.1% in four weeks as of October 10, outperforming Bitcoin and Ethereum. Differences in data between institutions may be due to differences in measurement windows and price snapshot times. CoinGecko data shows that its market value is about US$990 million, which means that the US$1 billion mark is within reach.
Merges with Velodrome to become the main catalyst
This price rise comes on the eve of a major restructuring. Aerodrome (AERO) and Velodrome (VELO) plan to merge into a single cross-chain decentralized exchange (DEX), which is expected to be officially launched on October 21. After the merger, the two tokens will be consolidated into a unified AERO token, in which AERO holders will receive 94.5% of the newly allocated total and VELO holders will receive 5.5%.

创始人表态与Coinbase生态关联
报道还引用了Aero创始人的承诺，表示将把市场份额翻倍。此外，在联合创始人Alexander Cutler预告将有“大量惊喜”之后，AERO周日一度飙升16%，随后涨幅收窄至8%。
Aerodrome与Coinbase生态系统有着密切联系。Velodrome最初在Optimism上推出，随后Aerodrome在Coinbase旗下的Base链上跟进。虽然有报道称Coinbase股票交易量在两个月内达到20亿美元，但这一数据尚无法独立核实。此前的报道指出，尽管累计交易量巨大，但Aerodrome流动性池的深度仍然较浅，前十大流动性池的总余额仅为1297万美元。
Whether $AERO can truly gain blue-chip status will depend on how the combined agreement performs after it goes online on October 21. Currently, the token is still well below its all-time high: CoinGecko recorded a high of $2.32. Like any coin that rallies sharply under the help of a catalyst, the price movement after launch can be full of volatility.
