Cardano News Today: Does this 5% plunge portend a major recovery?
ADA has just had a difficult week, and today it is even worse. Cardano fell to this week's low, and if you've been following the chart, you've already noticed something's wrong. This is a complete update on today's Cardano News, including the real data behind the decline and the real reasons.
Key Points
According to CoinGecko data, the ADA trading price was US$0.2003, down more than 13% in a week and up to 5% intraday.
The sell-off coincided with Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Walsh's speech at the Jackson Hole meeting, in which he said inflation trends had "not improved significantly."
A Cardano governance vote to rebuild the Constitutional Council is due on September 1, and there are currently insufficient votes from equity pool operators.
Did the Federal Reserve Chairman's speech really cause the crypto market to collapse?
This decline was not caused solely by Cardano's own reasons. The entire market fell simultaneously. According to CoinGecko data, the ADA price is trading at $0.2003, the market value is $7.506 billion, and the 24-hour trading volume is $336,078 million.
The global market value of cryptocurrencies stood at US$2.71 trillion today, with total 24-hour trading volume in all currencies reaching US$86 billion. Bitcoin's market share is 57.4%, and Ethereum's is 10.8%. So why has the market become red? According to official records of the Federal Reserve's August 28 Jackson Hole speech, Chairman Kevin Walsh said recent PCE and CPI inflation data were better than expected, but did not show that underlying inflation trends had improved significantly. He called for a "quieter Federal Reserve" with less forward-looking guidance and said markets should not expect the central bank to provide it with the direction of its next trading. Walsh did not explicitly rule out the possibility of cutting interest rates, but his tone was hawkish. He clearly set his own criteria: inflation must move towards the Fed's 2% target "clearly and quickly enough" otherwise the Fed still has "work to do." This sentence alone cooled the risk appetite of the entire stock and crypto market.
Can Cardano's governance proposal be passed before the deadline?
Here are the parts that are really important for ADA holders. Today's Cardano news and the planned constitutional update-the update on which Ouroboros Leios relies-cannot move forward until the Constitutional Council is formed. Currently, Cardano has not yet established the committee. A governance action to replace the existing committee with four new seats has been launched on adastat.net. According to data shared by Cardano's official X account, the voting deadline is September 1.
Voting group: DReps (entrusted representatives) has a current voting rate of 66.1%, and a required pass rate of 67%;SPOs (equity pool operators) has a current voting rate of 36.44%, and a required pass rate of 51%. DRep's support rating is close to the threshold, while SPO's support rating still needs to be filled.
What is Cardano's next step after this decline?
Not all signs point to decline. The Cardanians account posted on X citing Cexplorer data that ADA's energy efficiency is approximately 75,300 times that of Bitcoin. Ouroboros Leios is expected to be launched on Cardano's main network by the end of this year and is described as one of the largest upgrades to the network and aims to significantly increase transaction volume per second. On-chain activity also presents a different picture from the ADA price chart. Data shared by BSCN showed that Cardano's weekly DEX trading volume surged 1551%, reaching $151.01 million in seven days, hitting a record high of 245.31 million ADA trading volume in a single day on August 22. This kind of on-chain activity often means that funds are being reallocated rather than fleeing. Taken together, today's price collapse in Cardano's news is more like a pause than a collapse, and governance voting is the next catalyst that really deserves attention.
Expert opinion:
Current ADA price movements reflect a broader market response to the Fed's comments rather than events unique to Cardano. The coexistence of rising DEX trading volumes and falling prices suggests that funds within the network are actively redeploying rather than fleeing. Analysts tracking the network pointed out that DRep support is close to the required threshold, while SPO support still has a large gap that needs to be bridged.
