Weekly trading volume on the Cardano Network's decentralized exchange soared 1551%
According to online data, weekly trading volume on the Cardano Network's decentralized exchange soared 1551% to US$151.01 million in the past seven days. The number marks one of the most significant short-term surges in the network's history.
hit a new high in daily trading volume on August 22.
peaked on August 22, when online trading volume reached a daily high of 245.31 million ADA that day. Data shows that the daily trading volume of the Cardano-based decentralized exchange is approximately US$56 million. In the following days, trading volume remained abnormally high, between $16 million and $32 million, before falling back to previous levels.
This surge is not an isolated incident. Daily transaction volume climbed to approximately 32800, a significant increase from approximately 24700 the previous day and approximately 16700 two days ago; at the same time, the number of active addresses increased from approximately 13800 to nearly 32800 over the same period. The simultaneous growth in transaction volume and active addresses suggests that recent changes have been accompanied by an increase in overall network activity.
Capital rotation within Cardano DeFi
Trading volume data reflects a tactical shift of capital within the local DeFi protocol, rather than a simple influx of new users. Analysts point out that this is more like a capital rotation-a shift in trading volume from the dominant platform to smaller platforms. This model is consistent with the reallocation of existing liquidity within the ecosystem, rather than the influx of external capital into the chain.
The overall background of the network has also been strengthened. Since its launch in 2017, Cardano has accumulated more than 123 million transactions, developer activities continue to be active, and more than 303,000 code submissions have been tracked online. The ecosystem continues to advance major upgrades, including the Ouroboros Leios, Hydra and RealFi initiatives, as part of a broader effort to improve scalability and network utilization.
It remains to be seen whether this surge in trading volume marks a lasting shift in chain momentum or is just a short-term explosion. From April to mid-August, daily trading volumes were generally below US$5 million, making recent activity an abnormal volatility that has since fallen back to the previous range. Traders and ecosystem participants will pay close attention to whether this high baseline can be maintained.
