XRP XRP prices suffered severe selling due to the obstruction of the U.S. Senate's "Clarity Act"
Affected by the U.S. Senate's failure to promote the "Clarity Act"(Clarity Act), which is critical to the cryptocurrency market, XRP prices suffered severe selling pressure. XRP prices fell sharply by about 10%, falling back to around $1.30, becoming one of the most significant declines among major crypto assets. At the same time, Bitcoin prices retreated back to the US$76,000 region, and market risk appetite weakened, further exacerbating downward pressure on XRP. Why did it fall? Clarity Act caused market turmoil
One of the important triggers behind the sharp decline in XRP was its voting process in the Senate. The bill aims to clarify the regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market, but its passage requires the support of 60 senators to overcome procedural obstacles. However, the key procedural vote was 49 votes in favor and 50 votes against, resulting in the bill being 11 votes short of the required number of votes and ultimately failed to enter the next stage of review.
The stagnation of the Clarity Act has revived market concerns about the uncertainty of the future regulation of digital assets in the United States. The bill originally planned to further clarify the division of powers between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in the regulation of digital assets. Before the vote, XRP prices were operating around $1.41, outperforming other mainstream crypto assets.
