Hilton also focused on the Bank of Japan's upcoming interest rate decision. He said the market expected an increase in interest rates and explained that higher Japanese interest rates could affect the carry trade. The core of his explanation is that investors and institutions borrow in Japan at relatively low interest rates and invest the money in assets such as stocks, technology companies, gold and cryptocurrencies. If borrowing costs rise, Hilton said some participants may sell the assets and use the proceeds to repay loans in Japan.
For XRP and the broader crypto market, Hilton believes this could bring additional short-term selling pressure. However, he did not describe the potential change as a serious market event, but instead viewed it as a development that investors should pay close attention to.
Looking forward to October and long-term bullish expectations
Looking forward, Hilton expects volatility and consolidation may still occur as the market approaches the end of what he calls a 12-month bear market cycle for Bitcoin. He said that the current market lacks substantial bullish liquidity, which may further aggravate the market's turmoil.
Hilton is optimistic about XRP's long-term prospects despite concerns about the short-term outlook. He believes that by the end of 2026, XRP is expected to regain its all-time high of $3.60.
