Ether.fi rebuilds the self-managed wallet experience by migrating its core payment infrastructure to MoonPay
On October 6, Ether.fi and MoonPay announced a partnership. The former will integrate its core payment infrastructure into the latter's integrated platform. As a new crypto bank (Neobank), Ether.fi is committed to making the experience of self-managed wallets as easy as that of mainstream banking applications.
According to the joint announcement, this integration will unify functions such as recharge, withdrawal, cross-chain transactions, virtual accounts and cryptocurrency deposits to create a one-stop service experience for users. Previously, Ether.fi relied on multiple suppliers to provide payment functions, but now it will achieve internal replacement through this cooperation.
The total assets managed by Ether.fi in its Cash, Stake and Liquid products have exceeded US$6 billion. The transformation builds on an upgrade the company launched earlier this year: Users only need to complete one authentication, which can be common across cards, accounts and recharge channels, without having to repeat verification for each product.
MoonPay's four core products are embedded in the application
MoonPay Headless Ramps: Directly embed the recharge and withdrawal process into the application, allowing users to inject funds into their accounts with just one tap without having to redirect to third-party platforms.
MoonPay Trade: is responsible for handling cross-chain routing conversions within applications to ensure the smooth flow of assets between different blockchains.
MoonPay Enterprise:Each user is assigned a dedicated virtual account, including account number and routing number. Supports ACH, Fedwire, SWIFT, fast payments, SEPA and open banking standards, allowing payroll payments and transfers to be settled in seconds.
MoonPay Crypto Deposits: allows users to transfer assets from external wallets or exchanges and automatically convert tokens to their balance.
These four products further expand MoonPay's payment layout on multiple blockchains, including Solana.
Consumer growth exceeds market average
This integration comes as Ether.fi's consumer products are growing steadily and its performance is unaffected by fluctuations in cryptocurrency prices. The company cited Paymentscan data to show that in September 2026, its card users spent $123.7 million on 1.5 million transactions involving 48,162 active addresses; compared with just $24.1 million for the same period a year ago.
Since the card was launched in April 2025, the cumulative transaction volume has reached US$918.1 million, with a total of 11.6 million transactions processed. Ether.fi attributed the increase to daily consumption scenarios rather than speculative trading. The company believes that this model, which is dominated by daily expenditures, allows trading volume to effectively withstand the impact of violent market fluctuations.
With self-custody as the core, breaking through traditional bank license restrictions
Unlike traditional new banks, Ether.fi does not escrow user funds: the private key is held by the user themselves, and the company cannot move or freeze wallet assets. Combined with MoonPay's licensed fiat channel, this design forms the basis for the two companies to claim to be able to access more markets without having to obtain a separate banking license in each market.
It is reported that the above four MoonPay products will gradually connect to the Ether.fi platform in the next few months, and the specific date for full launch has not yet been announced.
