Eric Trump denies rumors of his family's cryptocurrency, and the prices of TRUMP and MELANIA tokens have soared.

Eric Trump recently publicly refuted speculation that the Trump family is about to launch a new cryptocurrency, saying such claims are pure fraud. After a post appeared on the X platform claiming that a token would be launched soon, relevant rumors quickly simmered, causing the price of existing Trump-themed digital assets to rise sharply.

Eric Trump denies cryptocurrency rumors

On August 22, Eric Trump directly responded to online speculation about the Trump family's cryptocurrency plans. He told fans on the X platform that the claim that new tokens were about to be launched was completely wrong and warned that any such remarks should be regarded as fraud.

Eric Trump described the token rumors as "a joke" and made clear: "No one is launching any tokens." If someone claims the contrary, it is fraud."

The comments came after the social media account @WhaleScan posted news that Donald Trump would soon launch a new digital currency. However, the statement did not provide any evidence, contract details or official logos.

Shortly after, another post claimed that a newly created Robinhood Chain wallet had received 290 ETH and interacted with a smart contract labeled "Truth Coin." The post failed to provide a verifiable wallet address or confirm any association with the Trump family.

Eric Trump did not respond specifically to the details of the posts, but dismissed the overall suggestion that the Trump family was considering launching tokens.

Trump's cryptocurrency connections fuel speculation

These rumors have attracted attention in part because the Trump family has previously been involved in digital asset projects. Eric Trump has previously publicly supported World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance (DeFi) project established in 2024. In addition, several Trump family members have also interacted with AmericanBitcoin, further enhancing the group's influence in the cryptocurrency field.

Existing tokens such as TRUMP and MELANIA, as memocoins named after Donald Trump and Melania Trump, have established a trading record of Trump-branded assets in the cryptocurrency market. This background makes rumors of the imminent launch of new coins more credible in the eyes of some traders.

The viral spread of these posts, combined with the Trump family's actual connection to cryptocurrencies, has created an environment where unconfirmed claims can quickly influence market sentiment.

Note: World Liberty Financial is a DeFi project launched in 2024 that provides decentralized financial services and is publicly supported by Eric Trump.

Trump-related tokens fluctuate due to rumors

As rumors spread, existing Trump-themed tokens experienced significant price fluctuations. TRUMP traded as high as $3.60, then fell back to $2.47, a 37.9% gain in 24 hours. MELANIA hit a high of US$0.1614 and then fell to US$0.1112, an increase of 18.4% for the day.

Token Name| 24-hour lowest price| 24-hour highest price| latest prices| 24-hour ups and downs

TRUMP| $1.79| $3.60| $2.47| +37.9%

MELANIA |$0.09085| $0.1614| $0.1112| +18.4%

Despite the rise, market activity records show that both tokens were trading below the day's highs. CoinGecko, a leading cryptocurrency data aggregator, tracked these violent fluctuations but failed to find any single driving event beyond widely circulated rumors.

Market activity surrounding TRUMP and MELANIA suggests that token values can react violently to speculative rhetoric on social media, whether or not they are officially confirmed.

Neither Robinhood nor the other platforms or projects mentioned in the rumors have issued a statement on these allegations. Eric Trump's explicit denial remains the only official response to the incident.

Rumors about the Trump family's cryptocurrency plans often appear, but so far they have been continuously denied by relevant parties.
