High turnover rates point to active speculation
PEPE's trading volume reached US$665.9 million in 24 hours, with a market value of approximately US$1.65 billion, and a turnover rate of approximately 40.4%. This figure shows that PEPE has a very active trader base, and its turnover rate has historically been the highest among the top 50 memecoins in market value. Such a high turnover rate means that the market is far from dormant. Active changes of this size are often seen as a signal of strong speculative participation rather than market indifference. Liquidity is its core advantage because it allows large addresses to avoid serious slippage when entering and exiting. For a token without an underlying income model, deep and sustained volume is one of the few structural advantages that a trader can point to.
Short-term correction is in a stronger weekly trend
Despite high trading volume, PEPE fell 3.71% in the 24 hours of counting. However, this short-term weakness is in the midst of a stronger weekly trend. PEPE has surged by about 57% in the past week despite recent pressures. This price increase is accompanied by an increase in average daily trading volume, which is far more significant than a rebound in weak trading volume. This is completely different in nature from attempts to rebound amid shrinking trading volume.
PEPE has more than 574,000 holders and no underlying utility or revenue model, and its price is driven almost entirely by market sentiment, social media activity and the broader cryptocurrency market cycle. This reality has two sides: momentum can fade as quickly as it formed, and any sustained rise requires sustained volume support.
A potential long-term catalyst lies in the regulatory path. In April 2026, Canary Capital filed an S-1 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on the spot PEPE ETF, the first regulated fund structure proposed for pure mocoin. If approved, this development could reshape institutional access channels. Although approval is far from certain, the mere submission of an application suggests that institutions are growing interest in the memin category.
For now, volume data is the most convincing signal. The daily turnover rate of an asset with a market value of US$1.65 billion reaches 40%, which is not a sign that market interest has waned. Whether this activity can translate into continued price increases or whether it simply reflects high speculative sentiment remains to be seen.
