Canton Network accounts for nearly 90% of tokenized asset value

Canton Network dominates the representative real-world asset (RWA) market. According to data tracked by rwa.xyz, Canton Network accounted for US$314.1 billion of the total of US$353.1 billion in representative assets, with a market share of approximately 89%.

Asset types need to be distinguished here. Rwa.xyz divides assets into distributed assets and representative assets: distributed assets use blockchain as the actual distribution layer, allowing investors to directly hold and transfer tokens through their wallets; while representative assets use blockchain more as a record or reference layer and do not have complete on-chain transferability.

Canton Network's data clearly belongs to the representative category, which means that although assets are recorded on the chain, investors do not hold tokens in their wallets. Canton is a bridge specifically designed for financial institutions to perform atomic transactions across different networks, building a unified ecosystem that allows liquidity to flow freely between regulated assets.

Its size in the field of representative assets is mainly due to institutional repo transactions. The Broadridge DLR platform running on the Canton Network processes more than $350 billion in repo transactions daily, allowing multiple financial institutions to settle repo agreements on the same day, eliminating overnight risk and reducing manual reconciliations while maintaining privacy between counterparties.

Ethereum and BNB chain lead the way in distributed assets

When it comes to distributed assets, where investors directly hold tokens, the situation is completely different. The total distributed assets on all networks were US$38.4 billion, of which Ethereum accounted for US$17.3 billion, and the BNB chain ranked second with US$5.8 billion.

Real-world assets refer to tangible or off-chain assets such as U.S. Treasury bonds, real estate, or commodities that are tokenized and recorded on the blockchain. With the increasing integration of capital markets and decentralized finance, RWA has become one of the fastest growing areas of cryptocurrencies.

Canton Network's institutional coverage continues to expand. DTCC, in partnership with Digital Asset, will offer DTC and Fed eligible securities on the Canton Network, and a broader industry promotion is expected to include more such assets in the second half of 2026.

rwa.xyz's data was cited by institutional users including JPMorgan Chase, S & P Global, the International Monetary Fund, Moody's, DTCC, the U.S. Treasury, Fidelity, Citibank and the World Economic Forum.
