Uniswap Labs purchased Pons tokens, pushing prices to record highs.
Uniswap Labs (@Uniswap) recently purchased $PONS, a native token from Robinhood Chain launch platform Pons (@ponsdotfamily). The transaction prompted the token's price to set a record high.
Uniswap Labs purchased tokens for memecoin launch platform Pons. The platform charges most agreements initiated on Robinhood Chain. Pons officially announced that Uniswap Labs "has purchased $PONS to align long-term interests" and described the transaction as a deepening of the partnership between the two parties.
As of now, neither party has disclosed the specific transaction quantity, payment amount, transaction time and specific address where the position is held. After the announcement, the price of $PONS surged 28% in 24 hours and briefly hit a high of $0.7391.
Data shows that Pons incurred US$5.95 million in fees in 24 hours. Since August 29, it has earned more daily fees than the Solana-based pump.fun platform.
Deep connection between Pons and Uniswap
The Pons V2 version routes tokens that "graduate" through a bonding curve to the Uniswap V4 liquidity pool. Currently, Robinhood Chain accounts for 56.3% of total Uniswap V4 transactions across all networks.
Pons went online on July 13 and deployed its V2 contract on August 3 to directly link those tokens that graduate from the binding curve to the Uniswap V4 liquidity pool. This structural link makes this token purchase a natural extension of the chain relationship between the two parties.
Although Uniswap Labs became a token holder on the application side that delivers assets to the V4 pool through this purchase, the size and structure of its position have not been disclosed. It is worth noting that Uniswap Labs also operates its own token launch platform on the same network. On August 5th, two days after Pons released its V2 contract, Uniswap Labs launched Pools.trade.
Token mechanism and supply
Based on the agreement and DefiLlama's revenue statistics, Pons uses approximately 80% of its agreement fees to repurchase PONS tokens. According to CoinGecko data, 29.34% of the total supply has been destroyed so far, with a circulation supply of 712.1 million units and a maximum supply of 1 billion units.
This deal marks a major shift in the competitive landscape between the two launch platforms. Uniswap Labs is no longer just a pure competitor on Robinhood Chain, but holds a financial interest in its competing platform. This move triggered a lot of speculation in the market about the future evolution of the relationship between the two.
