SHIB burning slows down, Robinhood speculation heats up

Rumors of Robinhood's listing have attracted the attention of SHIB, but there is no official confirmation

Although speculative discussions about the Robinhood platform have once again brought SHIB (Shiba Inu) into the public eye, there has been no official announcement confirming that the platform will support the trading of the token. At the same time, token destruction activity was reported to have slowed by about 6% in August, while the key event that historically dominated supply reductions remains Vitalik Buterin's huge destruction transaction in 2021.

The number of SHIBs destroyed by Buterin exceeded 410 trillion pieces, which far exceeds the daily curtailment of regular supply led by the community.

Robinhood rumors attract new community attention

Terrarmy recently cited speculative remarks surrounding Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and more memecoins. Tenev once responded to a post calling on Robinhood to expand its support for memin. However, this response does not represent an official announcement that SHIB is officially launched.

Given that community discussions continue on social media platforms, it is crucial to clearly distinguish between fact and speculation. There are currently no conclusive statements linking Tenev's response directly to the planned SHIB listing. Therefore, this development remains speculative rather than announced exchange integration news.

Robinhood has been expanding its cryptocurrency infrastructure and memin-related businesses. After its recent launch of blockchain, a large amount of activity has been recorded on the chain. According to CoinDesk, the blockchain generated 5.52 million transactions, with a decentralized exchange (DEX) transaction volume of approximately US$875 million.

These activities help explain why Tenev's response has attracted widespread attention among SHIB holders. However, the increased popularity of discussions does not mean that the token has received new trading support. Official communication from Robinhood must be awaited before confirming any listing progress.

Supply contraction slowed in August

At the same time, token destruction activity was reported to have dropped by about 6% in August. This slowdown means that fewer tokens are permanently removed compared to the previous period. But this does not mean that supply reduction activities have stopped.

Token destruction sends the SHIB to an address that cannot be used for future expenditures. Community participants have been using destruction as part of their supply management efforts. As individual transactions often affect the overall data, the total monthly destruction volume may fluctuate.

According to Shibburn, more than 410.8 trillion SHIBs have been removed from the original supply. This figure compares current community destruction with larger historical destruction. The largest single cut involved the Vitalik Buterin deal.

Therefore, when assessing changes in supply, the slowdown in August needs to be viewed in historical context. Regular monthly destruction volumes are much smaller than the destruction events in 2021. Monthly rhythm alone cannot capture the full picture of supply contraction.

Buterin's transactions still define SHIB's supply history

SHIB was launched in 2020 with an initial supply of 10 trillion pieces. According to a historical summary of the BSC account, half of it was sent to Buterin for free. According to reports, the transfer was part of a marketing strategy related to the token.

Subsequently, Buterin donated 50 trillion SHIBs to India's COVID-19 rescue fund. He then destroyed the remaining more than 410 trillion tokens by sending them to irreversible addresses. At the time, the tokens were reportedly worth approximately $67.7 billion.

Buterin explained that he did not want to have such a centralized power. His actions permanently removed an unusually large amount of SHIB from circulation. The scale of the incident far exceeded subsequent project and community-led destruction activities.

Based on market data on September 3, the current trading price of SHIB is approximately US$0.0000521. Current market prices exist in the supply structure shaped by that historic transaction. At the same time, the reported slowdown in August adds another variable to tracking future supply contractions.

Thus, the two current developments represent different areas of observation: the Robinhood rumor is about potential market access, and the destruction activity is about the supply of tokens. Neither provided confirmation of future price movements or exchange listings.

For now, the clearest data is still the historical size of the Buterin transaction. Continued destruction activities continue, but the monthly total is much lower than that of this historical event. As long as there is no official announcement, discussions about Robinhood also remain unconfirmed.
