The cumulative positions of U.S. XRP ETF exceeded 1 billion, and institutional participation increased significantly.
The total number of tokens held by U.S. exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking XRP has exceeded 1 billion. This highlights the deepening participation of institutional investors in this asset. This progress marks a steady increase in XRP's position in the ETF category, although the current XRP ETF market is still much smaller than Bitcoin or Ethereum.
Institutional Growth and ETF Positions
According to Maketo data, as of September 29, the U.S. XRP ETF held approximately 1.13 billion XRPs, with a market value of approximately US$1.68 billion. Compared with the asset size of US$1.44 billion a month ago, the dollar-denominated growth rate is approximately 16.6%.
This milestone shows that institutions 'exposure to XRP is accelerating since the launch of spot XRP products in the United States. However, despite some progress, Bitcoin and Ethereum-based ETFs are still far ahead of XRP in terms of value and total asset management.
Comparison of Crypto Asset ETF Sector
Bitbo's latest data shows that the U.S. Bitcoin ETF holds a total of approximately 1.29 million BTC, with a value of approximately US$108 billion. This figure exceeds more than 6% of the total supply of 21 million bitcoins. Among them, BlackRock's IBIT, the largest Bitcoin ETF in the United States, alone manages more than 800,000 BTC, and its asset size far exceeds the entire XRP ETF field.
In the U.S. market, Ethereum ETF also maintains a leading position. Depending on the tracking method used, there are millions of ETH held in multiple spot Ethereum products, and the corresponding total assets amount to tens of billions of dollars.
Despite their small size, XRP ETFs sometimes lead in daily net inflows, even with net outflows from Bitcoin and Ethereum funds. This divergence highlights the positive momentum of XRP products, but it is not enough to change the overall ETF asset landscape.
Fund Growth and Industry Concentration
Coinpaper recently reported that despite the sharp fluctuations in the price of the token this year, the seven spot XRP ETFs in the United States hold a total of approximately 1.1 billion XRPs. This rapid expansion continues as new institutional products enter the market.
Bitwise's XRP ETF has become one of the market leaders, reporting that it has more than US$600 million in assets under management. A number of well-known funds have accumulated most XRP positions, reflecting the increasing concentration in this field. Well-known financial service providers such as Coinbase Custody and BNY Mellon provide custody support for these products to enhance security and operational reliability.
Explanation of terms:
- Coinbase Custody: A digital asset storage service specifically designed for institutional investors that provides a secure offline storage solution.
- BNY Mellon: One of the world's largest asset services companies, providing custody and related financial services to institutional clients.
Although XRP ETF inflows sometimes exceed Bitcoin and Ethereum, its overall market size is still significantly small.
