TLDR: Directory Switch
TLDR:
FundingVest pointed out that open interest contracts on the three major exchanges fell, and past pullbacks provided a reference point.
Bitcoin's open interest in Binance fell 6% in 30 days, marking a loss of balance of volatility. Open interest on both Deribit and Gate.io fell 15%, pointing to position clearing and weakening trading volume. The 30-day structure is in line with previous local highs, with contraction in open interest often marking the disbursement phase. Similar situations in January and May 2026 were accompanied by a correction of approximately $1,000 in Bitcoin.
Bitcoin open interest fell near the US$87,000 level
Bitcoin's Open Interest fell as asset prices approached the US$87,000 level. Cryptocurrencies continue to lose momentum in markets where selling intensifies.
On the 30-day chart, the current price structure is similar to previous local highs. The contraction in open interest usually occurs during the disbursement phase, and the current settings clearly show this.
Data from Cryptoquant, Deribit and Gate.io points to cooling down the market. All three exchanges recorded significant declines in positions.
FundingVest points to decline in open interest on the three major exchanges
Cryptoquant analyst FundingVest shared data in a recent market post. The analyst pointed out that "continued decline in market open interest" was a key indicator.
According to the content of the post, Bitcoin's open interest fell within the 30-day window in all three venues. Analysts also linked the move to weak prices seen around $87,000.
FundingVest reported that Binance experienced a 6% decline. Analysts said this reflected a loss of the balance of volatility maintained over the past 30 days. Binance is also a benchmark for the market, so its data provides a useful interpretation of broader sentiment.

Deribit recorded a larger 15% reduction. FundingVest describes the exchange as the dominant force in the options market. Analysts pointed out that a decline of this magnitude suggests positions are being liquidated. In addition, expectations in the derivatives market seem to be changing.
Gate.io also posted a 15% decline. FundingVest linked the change to weaker trading volume and lower volatility expectations. Other exchanges only experienced marginal losses. Still, analysts said the sharp declines in all three venues confirmed a "clear cooling period."
Past callbacks provide reference points
FundingVest compares current settings to earlier periods. The 30-day open interest trend matches the pattern of January 2026 and May 2026.
In these two months, Bitcoin has pulled back about $10,000. Analysts cited the two incidents as the closest parallel cases.
