Ethereum price forecast: ETH falls to $2,500

Ethereum is once again approaching the US$2500 mark, and macro pressures and institutional capital outflows are exacerbating market downside risks.

Affected by the multiple pressures of rising U.S. Treasury yields, a stronger U.S. dollar and institutional investors 'capital outflows, the cryptocurrency market is under pressure. The price of Ethereum fell back to around US$2500, erasing most of the gains in early October.

Technical test key support levels

As of October 9, the Ethereum trading price remained at around US$2500. Its price had previously dropped to a low of about $2408 during Thursday's trading session. That price has sent Ethereum down nearly 9% from its high of more than $2700 hit earlier this week.

Market sentiment is not optimistic in terms of immediate technical patterns. Ethereum fell about 4% on October 8, and the previous day (October 7) also saw a 4.5% decline, causing the market price to quickly fall back to the $2500 area. This area has been identified as vulnerable during the recent sell-off, when about $165 million of leveraged long positions were liquidated.

If Ethereum effectively falls below $2500, the market focus will shift back to the $2,400 - 2,450 range. Thursday's low hit $2408, indicating buying has been initially tested in the region.

ETF fund outflows increase downward pressure

The flow of institutional funds has also weakened. Data showed that U.S. spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded a net outflow of $201.9 million on October 6, the largest withdrawal in weeks. In sharp contrast, bitcoin-related funds attracted $118.8 million in inflows during the same period.

This difference is critical because the "supply tightening" argument in Ethereum's multi-view logic is increasingly relying on institutional demand to absorb liquidity chips, while pledges and exchange withdrawals are reducing active supply in the market. At present, the balance of Ethereum on the exchange has dropped to multi-year lows. This trend of tight supply further confirms the changes in the current market supply and demand pattern.
