Flowra launches open order flow auctions for Solana, reshaping block building rules
Flowra has launched open order flow auctions on Solana, launching a new block building framework that aims to make the network's maximum extractable value (MEV) market more competitive and hopefully increase verifier revenue.
This mechanism allows registered searchers to compete for inclusion rights through open auctions rather than relying mainly on closed order flow channels. Flowra said this model can improve price discovery in Solana block space while giving validators access to a wider pool of bidders.
MEV (Maximum Extractable Value) refers to the value that can be generated through the ordering and inclusion of transactions in the block. Searchers compete to identify opportunities such as arbitrage, while validators ultimately decide which transactions are processed.
In early testing of a single verifier, Flowra stated that its infrastructure increased the number of computing units per block by 20.6%, lifting the verifier from 84% of the Solana network average to 101%. The company also reported that compared with similar verifier software, its block costs are higher, its block production success rate reaches 100%, and its block engine uptime reaches 99.999%.
In addition to auction mechanisms, Flowra also introduces programmable block policies that allow verifiers to define their own transaction inclusion rules at the block construction level.
This feature is designed to provide greater operational flexibility for verifiers, especially those facing institutional or regulatory requirements, without having to modify the underlying Solana protocol.
Flowra also recently announced a partnership with compliance infrastructure provider Honeypot to bring sanctions screening and risk screening to this level.
Harry Hwang, CEO of Flowra, said: "Solana's performance makes it one of the industry-leading blockchain networks, but its MEV market remains highly concentrated. By opening up block construction to transparent competition, we are creating a more efficient market for block space while giving verifiers greater control over how their blocks are built, and the entire process is fully verifiable and auditable."
Flowra's model draws on the competitive block building market developed on Ethereum-where builders compete for the right to provide blocks to proposers. The company believes Solana's high-throughput and low-latency architecture can support a similar market-driven model.
Currently, Flowra is accessing enterprise-level verifiers and plans to expand its participation as the network evolves. The open order-flow auction is now open to validators and searchers in the Solana ecosystem.
