EURR introduces euro tokens for Revolut's crypto products
EURR is a stablecoin pegged to the euro launched by Revolut. The first phase is open to qualified customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal. Revolut plans to expand access to the European Economic Area later this year, while meeting product, operational and regulatory requirements.
This token is designed to maintain the value of one euro. For customers who use Revolut for crypto transactions, it creates a balance denominated in euros in its digital asset service. This is useful for those who measure trading activity, positions or on-chain payments in euros rather than dollars.
This release was initially limited in scope. Customers from outside the three initial markets should not assume that EURR is available to them until they receive in-app notifications or updates from Revolut.
Bridge is the issuer of EURR
Revolut's official EURR disclosure document confirms that Bridge Building S.A. Is the issuer of the token. The company is an electronic money institution authorized in Luxembourg and regulated by the Financial Industry Supervisory Commission.
Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd serves as an offeror to EURR and allows it to trade on the Revolut X platform. The roles of the two are separate: Bridge Building S.A. Issue electronic currency tokens, while Revolut makes them available through its European crypto business.
EURR holders have the right to submit to Bridge Building S.A. at face value, subject to applicable terms and redemption process. Redeem tokens. This is a practical detail to keep in mind when dealing with EURR outside of the regular in-app experience. Redemption requests are directed to the issuer.
Bridge lists Bridge Building S.A. on its official website Serve as its European Economic Area entity and publish reference information for its Luxembourg license. Revolut also links to EURR's crypto assets white paper through its legal disclosure documents.
MiCA explains why the product is now significant
According to the EU Cryptographic Asset Markets Regulation, EURR is an electronic currency token. MiCA has established rules on authorization, governance, disclosure, reserves and redemption for stablecoin issuers.
These requirements have changed the types of stablecoins available to European crypto customers. Revolut said it had removed USDT for affected users because the token did not meet the stablecoin requirements applicable to encryption services in its region. Its USDT removal notice states that MiCA requirements cover issuer authorization, reserves, disclosure and supervision.
EURR provides Revolut with a euro-denominated stablecoin in line with this new European framework. The launch comes at a time when exchanges and fintech companies are re-examining the stablecoins they offer and the issuers behind them.
What EURR means to Revolut customers
EURR provides eligible users with a stablecoin denominated in the currency of their daily consumption and banking. Users can hold euro-based digital assets without bearing the risk of US dollar exchange rates, thus obtaining stablecoins.
This may be attractive to users who trade crypto in euros or want to retain euro units in their crypto portfolios. The advantage is more practical than significant: customers have an additional way to switch between their euro balances and Revolut's crypto services.
Specific options may vary based on account, country and product launch. Before relying on EURR for payments or transfers, customers should check the Revolut app to learn about supported transaction pairs, withdrawal options, networks, transfer fees and transaction limits.
EURR still has stablecoin risk
The MiCA authorization provides a legal framework and disclosure obligations, but this does not mean that stablecoins are risk-free products. Revolut's own stablecoin risk summary lists collateral risk, redemption risk, foreign exchange risk and counterparty risk.
The most relevant issues for EURR users are the issuer's redemption process and the services used to hold or transfer tokens. Large transfers may involve network fees, wallet support, processing steps and service restrictions. These details are far more important than the token name itself.
Users should avoid treating each crypto asset marked in euros as the same product. Before sending funds, please check the issuer, read official documents and confirm the networks supported by the token.
Five checks before using EURR
Availability: Verify that your Revolut account has EURR enabled.
Issuer: Learn about EURR developed by Bridge Building S.A. issue.
Redemption: Read the issuer's terms before using large balances.
Network: Confirm the transfer path in the Revolut app before sending.
Fees: View the displayed exchange and withdrawal costs.
Broader transformation of European stablecoins
Revolut's consumer business is built around currency exchange, bank cards and mobile banking. EURR brings this euro focus into the regulated crypto asset structure at a time when the European stablecoin market is being rebuilt around MiCA.
This release will not change the way most people use the euro on a daily basis. But it does provide Revolut with a new avenue into euro-denominated crypto activity, with a designated issuer, public disclosure information, and clear redemption rights.
A useful question for customers is straightforward: Do I have EURR in my account? What can I do with it? Which network supports money transfers? How much is the cost? The answers in the Revolut app and issuer documentation are far more important than the promise of a new token.
