Consensus Software announced plans to spin off, and MetaMask and institutional businesses will operate independently
Ethereum software company Consensus Software Inc. (owns MetaMask Wallet) recently announced a major restructuring plan. The company intends to split itself into two separate companies focused on consumer-oriented wallets and institutional-oriented blockchain Infrastructure services. The spin-off is expected to be completed before the end of 2026.
High-level personnel arrangements confirmed
According to the restructuring plan announced on September 9, 2026, Joe Lubin will serve as chairman and CEO of MetaMask and also serve as executive chairman of Consensus under the new structure. This measure aims to more clearly define the strategic directions of different business segments and improve operational efficiency and market responsiveness in their respective fields.
