XRP prices face critical tests: Internet activity declines, putting pressure on key support levels
After a recent strong rebound, XRP prices have reached a crucial technical node and are currently on the daily chart. One of the strongest support areas has stagnated. As the dynamic rally recedes in August, the cryptocurrency is facing a period of weakening momentum, a situation further exacerbated by a significant reduction in activity on the XRP ledger.
Prices hover in support range
Currently, XRP is trading just above $1.35, closely aligned with the nearby long-term moving average of $1.355. The area has also been strengthened by a short-term moving average close to $1.34, creating a highly concentrated support band between $1.33 and $1.36. Market observers believe that the region is crucial to maintaining the overall bullish structure.
As early as early as early August, XRP experienced a rapid rise, rising from about US$1.00 to more than US$1.50, and even briefly touching US$1.70. However, in recent trading sessions, the asset has failed to return to the US$1.45 to US$1.50 range, but has instead hit lower local highs, a sign that upward momentum is waning.
Currently, the daily relative strength index (RSI) has dropped to 51.7, below its signal average of 58.2. This reading suggests market conditions are turning more neutral rather than the previously apparent bullish trend.
Decline in Internet activity raises concerns
The latest data shows that activity on XRP ledgers has dropped sharply. Successful transactions fell by 59.5% to approximately 970,200, while the total number of transactions on the books fell by 55.6% to 1.2 million. The number of transactions per ledger also fell by 56.1%, and the number of payments fell by 35.6% to 573,100.
In terms of user metrics, the number of active accounts fell 5.4% to 13,900, while the number of active users fell even more sharply, down 42.3% to 126,200. The number of new accounts created remained stable at 2,200.
Metrics that track user engagement highlighted a broad decline in activity, with significant declines in transaction volume and active accounts. Although the technical infrastructure of XRP ledgers remained stable, with an average ledger interval of approximately 3.84 seconds, and a total of 20,600 ledgers were closed (a 1.2% increase from only modal in the previous period), the decrease in off-chain activity points to a weakening in underlying momentum.
Key levels and industry changes
Market observers emphasized the importance of the current US$1.33 to US$1.35 support band. If XRP falls below this level for an extended period of time, prices could move towards $1.28, a region where a large number of moving averages are clustered, located in the $1.25 to $1.28 region. On the other hand, assets need to clearly break above $1.45 to re-establish a clear short-term bullish bias; however, stabilizing above $1.40 will help reduce near-term downside risks.
As technical indicators and on-chain data continue to play an important role in market analysis, some investors are turning to new ways to hold and trade assets. While traditional markets have always relied on complex brokerage services, a significant change is underway as Wall Street increasingly transitions to Web3 solutions. Platforms such as 1stepSwap allow investors to hold tokenized stocks of leading U.S. companies and positions in gold and silver directly in their cryptocurrency wallets. By leveraging real-world asset (RWA) tokenization and enabling automated price discovery across markets, these platforms eliminate middlemen and provide more direct access to traditional financial assets.
Overall, XRP is still at a critical turning point, and traders are closely watching whether the currency can hold its current support level despite declining network activity and shifting market sentiment.
