Grok accounts for nearly 60% of Coinbase's ai proxy transactions, and Openai ChatGPT accounts for only 1.54%
Exchange data shows that in one week in September, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence product Grok accounted for nearly 60% of the ai proxy transactions on the Coinbase platform, while Openai[TAGPT accounted for only 1.54%.
Overview of key data
According to data released by Coinbase developer accounts on the X platform, from September 14 to September 21, Grok accounted for 59.54% of measurable proxy transaction volume. In comparison, Anthropic's Claude accounted for 13.37%, ChatGPT only accounted for 1.54%, and Perplexity accounted for 3.48%. In addition, the proportion of custom command-line settings was 21.73%.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong commented on this on September 25:"Currently, Grok is the most important client for proxy traders on Coinbase." Musk responded to Grok on his Social networks X, where many cryptocurrency traders gather, expressing his attitude in just one word: "Cool."
It should be pointed out that this chart only covers single-week data and counts the nominal transaction amount rather than the number of users. As of press time, Coinbase has not disclosed the total dollar amount traded by the agent, nor has it announced which tokens the agent purchased.
Investors need to pay attention to ai Capital flow
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood said at the Robinhood Summit in Houston on September 30 that investors may need to pay close attention to the capital spending movements of ai agents. "We are likely to talk more and more about the 'follow the agent' strategy," she said.
Previously, Armstrong wrote on September 25 that cryptocurrencies and stablecoins will become the preferred payment channels for ai agents.
The current rankings measure market share rather than absolute size, because Coinbase does not disclose the total amount or specific targets of proxy transactions. The closest relevant data it provides comes from x402-a proxy payment protocol built by Coinbase. The agreement processed more than 230 million transactions in more than a year, with a transaction volume of US$54 million.
Progress in the launch and integration of Coinbase's "Agent" function
Coinbase's "Coinbase for Agents" function aims to simplify the transaction access process of ai agents, which is said to be set up in just three clicks. Grok and Perplexity users can find the exchange interface through plug-ins or connector tabs, while ChatGPT and Claude users connect through the Model Context Protocol.
Official documents show that Claude will ask for user confirmation in the chat interface before creating an order, while ChatGPT supports generating an order in one time. This feature was officially launched on June 11, allowing ai assistants Cryptocurrency spot and derivatives trading from user accounts; on September 22, the platform was further expanded to include U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
It was reported that with native integration coming online in early September, Grok's trading share climbed significantly from 15.3% to 59.5% in the following three-week snapshot.
