Signs of institutional participation in XRP are becoming increasingly evident: Several top financial institutions disclose holding large positions in regulated XRP investment products
Large financial institutions increase their holdings in XRP
The latest investment disclosures show that Goldman Sachs Group reported approximately US$86.5 million in exposure to five different XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). These documents are part of regular 13F reports filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission by relevant agencies, revealing the size and breadth of XRP-related products in large financial portfolios.
Goldman Sachs, a multinational financial services company based in New York, detailed its XRP ETF positions: Bitwise XRP ETF is approximately US$25.76 million, Franklin Templeton XRP ETF is approximately US$25 million, and Canary Capital XRP ETF is approximately US$19.49 million. In addition, it holds approximately US$8.21 million in the 21Shares XRP ETF and approximately US$7.65 million in the Grayscale XRP Trust. These positions total approximately $86.5 million.
Another large U.S. bank, Wells Fargo, reported that its XRP ETF position was worth approximately US$9.18 million. Meanwhile, JPMorgan Chase, one of the world's largest banking institutions, disclosed a smaller exposure, holding only 181 shares of the XRP ETF. Banque Italiana Unión São Paulo also disclosed its position in the Grayscale XRP Trust. Other banks and asset managers reported exposure to different XRP ETF products, but in more limited amounts.
CryptoSensei, a prominent digital asset market observer, views the recent wave of ETF disclosures as evidence that regulated XRP products are attracting interest from well-known institutions. However, he also reminded that the 13F document only reflects positions at the end of the quarter and does not necessarily represent a long-term investment strategy. Institutional participants often adjust their investment portfolios based on market changes.
Current disclosures provide a rare window into the presence of XRP ETFs in the portfolios of top financial institutions, but these positions can change rapidly as markets evolve.
These disclosures also suggest that established banks and asset managers now have ways to gain XRP exposure without directly holding underlying assets. Regulated ETFs serve as a bridge for interaction between traditional finance and digital assets.
XRP ETF trading volume exceeded US$100 million
According to data highlighted by CryptoSensei, XRP ETF trading volume exceeded US$100 million in the most recent trading day. Trading volume climbed from about $54 million earlier in the day to more than $107 million at the close.
This increase in trading activity is attributed to increased institutional participation and increased interest in regulated XRP investment vehicles. The increase in transaction volume reflects the broad trend of digital asset products becoming increasingly popular among mature financial companies.
The rise in ETF trading volume suggests that market curiosity about regulated XRP products is growing as blue-chip institutions expand their participation.
Despite these developments, cryptocurrency analysts suggest that ETF positions and trading volumes do not necessarily reflect a strong long-term commitment to XRP. Investment strategies in the digital asset space remain sensitive to regulatory developments, liquidity and overall market sentiment.
