ARK Invest showed in its daily trading disclosure on September 4 that its ARK Innovation ETF bought 28,589 shares of Robinhood shares. Based on an estimated transaction value disclosed by ARK, the purchase amount is approximately US$3.57 million.

ARK's official position data also shows that Robinhood is still one of the main positions of ARK Innovation ETF. As of September 4, HOOD accounted for 4.28% of the fund, with a market value of nearly $282.8 million.

Despite the public purchase news, HOOD's share price ultimately fell. TradingView data showed that HOOD closed at $122.11 after trading around $124.72 on previous trading days. The decline followed Thursday's 16.57% gain, which sent shares significantly above their September 2 levels.

The previous rebound was due to several Wall Street investment banks raising expectations for Robinhood. According to Barrons 'Weekly, Morgan Stanley analyst Michael Cyprys raised his price target to $150 and upgraded the stock. He cited broader product adoption and greater customer monetization as reasons.

Robinhood faces tokenization equity dispute

AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron criticized Robinhood's stock token business on September 4. Aron objected to tokens tracking AMC stock without theater operator approval.

Robinhood's quarterly filing describes "Stock Tokens" as tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets Jersey Limited. The document states that the holder gains economic exposure but does not have legal or beneficial ownership of the underlying shares.

The company also said Stock Tokens is not registered under U.S. securities laws. Robinhood limits its availability in multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Aron said AMC will ask external securities legal advisers to review the structure. He also questioned how Robinhood could offer AMC-linked products without the company's involvement.

This dispute is crucial because tokenized equity is at the heart of Robinhood's international expansion strategy. Robinhood launched its public Chain mainnet in July this year using the Arbitrum technology stack. It also provides Stock Tokens to qualified users in more than 120 countries around the world.

Robinhood Chain expands its business footprint beyond brokerage business

Robinhood said its Chain is designed to serve financial services and real-world assets. The network supports decentralized exchanges, lending markets and tokenized securities.

DefiLlama data shows that Robinhood Chain's total lock-in value (TVL) in decentralized finance (DeFi) is approximately US$868 million. The tracker also showed that in the latest reading, 24-hour revenue on the chain was approximately $5.44 million.

These numbers add another revenue channel to Robinhood's core brokerage business. Nevertheless, on-chain activity fluctuates wildly with transaction demand and market conditions. [TAG

DefiLama also recorded a 24-hour decentralized transaction volume of approximately $1.77 billion. This indicates that the network is handling demand beyond stock token transfers.

Robinhood's second-quarter results showed that cryptocurrency revenue fell 38% year-on-year to $100 million. This contrasts with strong growth in revenue from stocks, options and active contracts over the same period.

According to Robinhood's earnings report, revenue from active contracts reached $156 million, while revenue from stocks increased 95% to $129 million. Options revenue increased 29% to $342 million.
