The FSC said existing licensed financial institutions will handle tokenized securities within the scope of their licenses. At the same time, the country also plans to amend relevant rules under the Capital Market Law and the Electronic Registration Law. For KB Securities, the progress and scope of these efforts are critical as the company moves from a planned fund business to a public offering of stocks and other financial instruments.
Kang Jin-doo, CEO of KB Securities, said that the agreement will integrate the professional capabilities of all parties to jointly serve domestic institutional investors. He said KB Securities will continue to pay close attention to regulatory and market developments and work with global partners.
In addition to KB Securities, other South Korean securities firms are also deploying at different links of the trading chain. On September 21, Eugene Investment & Securities reached an agreement with BEATOZ to test stablecoin settlement. The test aims to verify whether subscription, payment and settlement of tokenized securities can be carried out through an interconnected blockchain system. Eugene established a tokenized securities platform in 2024 and participated in the pilot project of the Korea Securities Depository in 2025.
OP Mainnet will host its first product
For Optimism, this agreement allows OP Mainnet to be used in planned institutional securities products rather than in general blockchain experiments. The announcement clearly designated the network as the carrier of the first money market fund, while details such as technical design, issuance structure and release timing will be announced in the future.
Jing Wang, CEO and co-founder of OP Labs, said KB Securities 'choice of OP Mainnet was an "early signal" that this model would work outside the U.S. dollar market. Her comments pointed to the focus of the South Korean market, although the announcement did not clarify the specific currency or asset target of the first fund.
Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, said that parties are introducing tokenized infrastructure to South Korea's capital market. The proposed division of work will place Securitize as a bridge between KB Securities 'products and distribution operations and networks that use blockchain to record tokens.
KB Securities background is related to Securitize's U.S. stock market
KB Securities is part of KB Financial Group. According to company data included in the announcement, as of December 2025, its total assets reached 76.5 trillion won, and shareholders 'equity was 6.9 trillion won. Its business scope covers six countries, including the United States.
Securitize is already operating in the U.S. capital markets and traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "SECZ". In July, when its shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange, Securitize tokenized its own common stock on the Solana and Avalanche chains. Securitize stated that these blockchain-based tokens represent the same common stock with the same applicable laws and transfer restrictions, rather than a separate class of stock.
For U.S. investors,"SECZ" is already a public trading method of holding a stake in one of the parties to the South Korean agreement. The September 23 announcement did not provide revenue estimates, investment amounts or other financial terms for the proposed partnership, and therefore did not establish a measurable impact on Securitize's earnings.
The company also partnered with asset management companies in the United States to develop tokenized funds. Its platform supports BlackRock's BUIDL tokenized treasury bond fund. Securitize said that as of August 2026, its assets under management were approximately US$5 billion. In July this year, U.S. regulatory documents showed that South Korea's Hanwha Group built a 9.6% stake in the company through related entities and investment vehicles, making it the largest shareholder of Securitize at the time.
In addition to the two planned funds, KB Securities said that any move into tokenized stocks, depositary receipts or bonds will depend on the development of South Korea's securities framework. Another of its reviews of existing funds at Global Asset Management focused on distribution issues to institutional clients in South Korea rather than creating another fund under a three-party agreement.
