Coinbase launches the "Agent" function, with Musk's Grok becoming the leading force.

Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: COIN), the top U.S. cryptocurrency trading platform, officially launched the "Coinbase for Agents" function on June 11. This feature allows a trader's AI agent to connect directly to his Coinbase account to perform transactions, payments and automated workflows on behalf of users within preset security limits.

Whether it is portfolio rebalancing, capital efficiency optimization, or data-driven trading decisions, this function can be performed by AI agents on the Coinbase exchange. It has been more than three months since the feature was launched, and the latest data shows that Elon Musk's Grok has become the platform's dominant agent trading tool.

Grok holds nearly 60% of the market share.

Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong released a dataset on September 25 that shows that Grok is currently the preferred client for intelligent traders on the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States. Data shows that 59.5% of agent traders on Coinbase come from Grok, followed by custom models, accounting for 21.7%.

In contrast, Anthropic's Claude (13.4%), Perplexity (3.5%) and Sam Altman's OpenAI's ChatGPT (1.5%) lag far behind. Faced with Grok's dominance of Coinbase's active AI agents, Musk responded with only the word "Cool."

Deep integration of Grok with the X platform

Grok's dominance on Coinbase is not surprising, as the AI app is deeply integrated with the X platform (formerly Twitter). The cryptocurrency community generally views this social media network as its digital home.

Previously reported that X Platform recently added cryptocurrency support to its Cashtag function. Users can trade virtual assets such as Bitcoin directly on the platform by simply clicking on a stock code such as $BTC and clicking the "Trade" button. Since then, users can also trade cryptocurrencies through X platform's collaborative program partners, including Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo.

Musk himself is a cryptocurrency enthusiast and has spoken highly of Bitcoin and Dogecoin (DOGE) many times. He and his companies Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPAC) both hold Bitcoin.
