Can Jincha really predict price increases?
Sometimes, but this is not because the crossover itself causes prices to rise. Moving averages are lagging indicators. Since the 50-day moving average takes weeks of price improvement to catch up with the 200-day moving average, most of the gains tend to occur before the golden cross appears.
Therefore, a more accurate understanding is to view the golden cross as trend confirmation rather than an early forecast. Golden fork works best when the market has formed a sustained trend. Fidelity Investment points out that moving averages are particularly effective in clear rising or falling markets, while the reliability of their signals is reduced under sideways volatile conditions.
The cryptocurrency market provides a large number of cases. Bitcoin traders often observe this intersection in conjunction with broader trends, but macro factors such as inflation, liquidity or government bond yields can still override this technical signal. If the gold cross is accompanied by increased trading volume, improved market breadth, and prices stabilize above the two moving averages, its credibility is usually much higher than that of isolated crosses.
Why does the golden fork sometimes fail?
The biggest problem is the "Whipsaw" effect. In a sideways market, prices may fluctuate up and down repeatedly without establishing a lasting trend. Moving averages eventually follow prices, producing cross bullish and bearish signals, but these signals tend to reverse quickly.
In addition, the signal may appear very lagging. When the crossover occurs, asset prices may have risen by 20%, 30% or more. This is particularly relevant in the volatile cryptocurrency market. According to reports, despite a brief rebound, some altcoins have remained below their 200-day moving averages for several months.
Therefore, volume, resistance, relative strength index (RSI) and broader market conditions are all crucial.
What should traders pay attention to after the appearance of the golden fork?
The most important question is whether the price confirms the validity of the crossover. Ideally, asset prices should remain above both moving averages, trading volume expands, and previous resistance levels turn into support. If there is a decline immediately after the crossing and falls below the 200-day moving average again, the signal is very weak.
The reverse pattern is the "dead fork" and follows the same principle: a dead fork is formed when the 50-day moving average crosses the 200-day moving average.
In the final analysis, the golden fork is useful because it reduces trend analysis to a visible signal. But it is not a guarantee of price increases.
