OKX completed a new round of strategic financing with a valuation of US$25 billion.
Crypto exchange OKX recently announced the completion of a new round of strategic investments involving Circle, Ripple, Qube Research & Technologies and SC Ventures, a subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank. The round brought OKX's pre-investment valuation to US$25 billion and put several of its existing infrastructure partners directly on its shareholder register.
The October 6 investment is a continuation of the investment round led by ICE, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, earlier this year. OKX did not disclose the specific amounts of capital injections from the four new investors. The valuation is consistent with a previous March deal with ICE, which was subsequently expanded into a 50% joint venture between OKX and ICE to provide services targeting regulated crypto derivatives and tokenized securities in the U.S. market.
Investors have been deeply involved in OKX's critical infrastructure
Each new investor has established an operational partnership with OKX in areas such as stablecoins, liquidity, payments or institutional infrastructure.
- Circle's USDC: has been fully integrated into the exchange system.
- Qube Research & Technologies: As an institutional counterparty, providing liquidity and risk tolerance.
- Ripple's RLUSD: Served through OKX's unified order book, which is a further extension of the previous RLUSD liquidity expansion covering the spot market and derivative collateral.
- Standard Chartered Bank: Among the collateral infrastructure developed by OKX, it provides custody services for BlackRock's BUIDL tokenized treasury bond fund.
As a result, new capital investments more closely tie capital ownership to services already used by exchanges in stablecoins, liquidity and tokenized assets.
Xu Ming, founder and CEO of OKX, said the funds will support the company's further growth and promote its plan to expand real-world asset (RWA) tokenization while surpassing its original exchange business.
OKX Money targets stablecoin savings and payments markets
At the same time, OKX launched "OKX Money", a stand-alone application focusing on saving, transferring and consuming dollar-linked stablecoins. In participating markets, customers can top up their accounts using more than 50 supported currencies and then convert to USDC, USDT, or USDG. Convertions between supported stablecoins are free of conversion fees.
Eligible users can earn an annualized rate of return (APY) of up to 10% on their eligible USDG balance without having to pledge or lock up positions. Virtual and physical cards provide consumption channels, and OKX does not charge foreign exchange fees or conversion markups when purchases are made in other currencies.
The product was initially targeted at markets where it was difficult to obtain dollar-denominated savings services due to local banking infrastructure limitations, currency volatility or foreign exchange costs. Specific availability, rates and individual features vary based on jurisdiction and customer qualifications.
