Geopolitical risks heat up, and Bitcoin falls below the key support level of US$84,000
Affected by rising geopolitical risks in global markets, Bitcoin prices fell back below US$84,000, prompting investors to refocuse on key support levels. As Iran intensified its attack on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, international oil prices rose sharply, while market risk appetite further weakened. In addition, the strengthening of the U.S. dollar and rising U.S. Treasury yields have also exacerbated selling pressure on Bitcoin and the overall cryptocurrency market.
Bitcoin loses its $84,000 defense line
On Tuesday, Bitcoin was trading at around $86,600, but it encountered strong selling pressure shortly after the market opened on Wednesday, and the price fell rapidly. BTC fell to $83,840 in a short period of time, falling below the $84,000 mark that analysts regarded as a key support point. Although limited buying subsequently pushed prices back briefly above $84,200, market caution remained strong and selling pressure continued.
This sharp correction in Bitcoin has also affected the altcoin market. Dogecoin fell nearly 5%, becoming the leader in the decline among major cryptocurrencies;HYPE fell about 4% to near US$91;Ethereum fell 3.5% to fall back to the US$2,610 range; and XRP fell about 3% to trade around US$1.46. At the same time, assets such as BNB, Solana, Zcash and TRX also accelerated their decline, with declines ranging from 1% to 2.5%.
Iran situation pushes oil and dollar higher
Iran's increased attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz have weakened the global market's willingness to bear risks. Brent crude oil prices rose to about $101.50 per barrel, and the U.S. dollar index strengthened against major currencies. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield rose three basis points to 5.31%. Asian markets were also dominated by selling off in early trading.
FxPro analysts pointed out that if Bitcoin continues to operate below US$84,000, sellers may further consolidate market control. The next key observation area is US$83,000. Once this support level falls, Bitcoin prices face the risk of a rapid retreat to US$80,000. FxPro emphasized that a move below $84,000 could be a major setback for bulls, and a breakthrough in the $83,000 defense line could accelerate the release of selling pressure.
Comprehensive Assessment
This round of decline in bitcoin prices is not only driven by internal factors in the crypto market, but is also influenced by geopolitical tensions triggered by Iran, rising oil prices, a strengthening of the US dollar and rising government bond yields. For BTC, US$83,000 is a key support level in the short term. If this level is broken down, the downward path to US$80,000 will be further opened. Investors also need to pay close attention to the monetary policy signals released in the minutes of the Federal Reserve meeting.
