Galaxy and Sharplink jointly launch a US$125 million on-chain income fund
Galaxy Digital and Sharplink have reached an important cooperation to jointly launch a new US$125 million fund, aiming to allocate capital to on-chain income strategies and select crypto investment areas.
Under the cooperation arrangement, the fund has received US$125 million in committed capital. Among them, Sharplink provided US$100 million from its pledged Ethereum (ETH) treasury, while Galaxy contributed US$25 million. Galaxy will be responsible for fund management and lead the formulation of investment strategies.
The launch of the fund comes as companies with large amounts of crypto treasury seek to move beyond simply holding digital assets. Sharplink has been building its strategy around Ethereum and is now hoping to gain additional revenue from its ETH holdings through the on-chain market.
What the collaboration means for Sharplink's ETH treasury
Sharplink has positioned Ethereum as a productive treasury asset, not just an asset for accumulation. The company has previously introduced a pledge mechanism in its ETH treasury strategy. The new fund further advances this idea, allowing capital to enter decentralized finance and other on-chain opportunities.
Sharplink CEO Joseph Chalom said the fund represents the next step in the company's ETH treasury strategy. He pointed out that the goal is to allow ETH to achieve higher productivity while maintaining an institutionalized capital allocation method.
The fund will also invest in emerging crypto protocols and projects. Sharplink believes this could provide financial support for projects that require early liquidity and activity to grow.
Galaxy expands institutional chain strategy
For Galaxy, this fund adds a new product line to its institutional digital asset business. Galaxy said its investment process will rely on its accumulated experience in the digital asset market, as well as protocol research, due diligence and risk control capabilities.
Galaxy CEO Mike Novogratz said the launch of the fund reflects a shift in institutional crypto adoption-investors are moving from passive holding to active participation in blockchain-based markets.
Steve Kurz, global co-head of Galaxy Digital Assets, described the fund as an institutional-level on-chain strategy on the company's asset management platform.
This move also highlights the evolution direction of the ETH treasury strategy. Institutional holders are no longer satisfied with letting ETH idle or making limited returns only through pledges, but are increasingly seeking to deploy assets into the broader on-chain economy.
With the fund's commitment of US$125 million at its launch, Galaxy's cooperation with Sharplink will become an important test: testing whether large enterprise crypto treasury can gain additional benefits through institutional-level DeFi strategies under stricter risk controls.
