Ethereum's dynamic path: Will the market rebound or plummet?

Ethereum has been hovering around US$1878 recently, which is in the narrowest trading range of the year. Support is firm at around $1855, while resistance is forming above $1930, bringing Ethereum closer to a technical turning point. In sharp contrast to recent trends, spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) reported an outflow of $2.26 million, the first redemption in five weeks.

Can Ethereum break through?

Although ether is still close to its 20-day moving average (US$1882), whether the closing price can stand at that line has become the key to changing its short-term trend. Resistance in the $1918 to $1920 range remains strong. If Ethereum breaks through this area, the next resistance target may be around $1960, gradually approaching the strategic $2000 mark. If bullish sentiment persists, the 200-day EMA (about $2129) will be a milestone for the future.

What drives the mechanism movement?

The week's negative money flow echoes overall caution. ETF outflows totaled $2.26 million as of mid-August, ending a five-week run that attracted $566.12 million. Although small overall, further outflows may affect the sector, especially as Ethereum approaches key breakthrough areas. At the same time, net outflows from exchanges suggest tighter supply and rising investor optimism.

According to Glassnode data, selling pressure on Ethereum has eased, but market volatility is still looming. The total recent liquidation amount reached US$10.6 million, of which long positions accounted for a large proportion. The macro fiscal environment casts a long shadow on the future trend of the cryptocurrency market.

In a major institutional action, BitMine disclosed that it currently holds 5.81 million Ethereum coins, accounting for 4.8% of Ethereum's total supply, and plans to eventually control 5%. Its strategy is consistent with the pledge of 5.07 million Ethereum (worth approximately US$11.6 billion). This support provides further boost to its long-term Ethereum price target of $22000, driven by growth in stablecoins, tokenization and decentralized applications (DApps).

Ethereum traders are leveraging more efficient tools and strategies to deal with this major turning point. Some platforms that provide real-time portfolio and price alerts (without multiple logins) have attracted attention, reflecting the need for a more concise approach to market observation. As Ethereum hovers near key resistance levels, the focus remains on breaking through these boundaries or preparing for another round of decline.
