Well-known TV host Jim Cramer recommends buying Bitcoin directly rather than derivatives

Well-known TV host and former hedge fund manager Jim Cramer is known for his outspoken approach to market dynamics. On "Crazy Money", no matter who asks him questions, he gets a candid response.

On August 20, Sanjay from California called Cramer to ask if Bitmine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) shares were still worth buying. Bitmine Immersion is the world's leading Ethereum (ETH) treasury company, holding 5.81 million Ethereum tokens. As of August 16, the digital asset treasury company also held 210 bitcoins (BTC).

In response to Sanjay's questions, Cramer advised him to "buy Bitcoin directly" and ignore derivatives such as BMNR, calling them "too risky." Kramer told Sanjay: "You can buy Bitcoin. I recommend this."

Just a few weeks ago, Cramer said he would sell Bitcoin.

Cramer suggested buying Bitcoin, just a few weeks after his previous announcement that he would sell the mainstream cryptocurrency. In an interview, Cramer asked IBM CEO Arvind Krishna whether technological advances in quantum computing would ultimately crack the cryptographic function that protects Bitcoin. Krishna responded: "I think you should give yourself three to four years, when I will be quite worried about it." A few days later, Kramer revealed that based on Krishna's warning, he would sell his bitcoins.

Bitcoin breaks US$79000

On August 21, following the extensive cryptocurrency rally that began on August 19, the price of Bitcoin broke through the $79000 mark. On the same day, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that it would at least double the size of long-term government bond repurchase. In addition, President Donald Trump has reiterated his commitment to making the United States the world's Bitcoin capital and urged Congress to pass a "fair version" of the Clarification Act.
