Wavefield overtakes Ethereum, USDT supply climbs to US$94 billion
In the USDT distribution network, Tron has surpassed Ethereum as the leading platform. The supply of USDT on the chain has reportedly approached US$94 billion, which has changed the actual distribution of market-dominated US dollar tokens.
How does the wavefield surpass Ethereum in terms of USDT supply?
This change focuses on one specific indicator: the number of USDTs circulating on each blockchain. This does not mean that wavefield has completely surpassed Ethereum in terms of market value, developer activity or ecosystem size. USDT is issued on multiple chains, and TEDA publishes data for each chain on its transparency dashboard. For a long time, wavefield and Ethereum have been the two main carrier chains of USDT. At present, the USDT size on the wavefield is reported to be close to US$94 billion, and its stablecoin carrying capacity has exceeded that of Ethereum. This is supply leadership on a single asset rather than broad chain dominance, and this distinction is crucial.
This is not the first time TEDA tokens have jumped in the rankings. USDT itself once surpassed Ethereum in terms of market value and became the second largest cryptocurrency, highlighting the stablecoin's increasingly central position in the market.
What the $94 billion milestone means for the wavefield
The distribution position of the USDT reflects the direction of the actual flow of the US dollar. The chain carrying a large supply of stablecoins is often the first choice for settlement, transfer and transaction tracks. The size of Bochang as a transfer network also confirms this point: the number of its accounts has exceeded 400 million, and the total transfer volume is close to US$30 trillion. This scale is largely based on stablecoin activities. This milestone should be interpreted in terms of the use of stablecoins, not the price of TRX tokens. Supply concentration reflects settlement preferences and liquidity depth, which allows it to fit into the broader stablecoin narrative rather than simply one-day price fluctuations. The stablecoin market itself continues to expand, with total supply reaching a record high, exceeding US$323 billion. The wavefield accounts for a larger share of this pool, enhancing its relevance as a place of mobility.
What might it mean for the market for wavefield leading Ethereum?
This change builds a direct competition story between wavefield and Ethereum on the stablecoin track. Ethereum is still a deeper DeFi environment, but in terms of USDT hosting volume alone, the wavefield currently leads. The open question for issuers and traders is: Does this reflect a lasting trend or a flow shift that could rebalance? Ethereum has faced similar stablecoin competition before, with Aptos surpassing Ethereum in stablecoin inflows. What is obvious is that the distribution of USDT has become a competitive battlefield between chains, and the network that holds the most stablecoin liquidity will have real leverage in how the market settles. So, which chain will be the next to master the trajectory of the dollar?
