Ethereum tests key resistance levels: surge in trading volume and accelerated institutional buying, with a breakthrough target pointing to US$15,000
As the world's second largest blockchain platform by market value, Ethereum (ETH) is testing a key technical resistance level. Despite cyclical rejections at higher prices, buyers continue to defend their long-established accumulation model. Cryptocurrency analyst Crypto Patel pointed out that Ethereum is retesting the barrier created over the years for the third time while maintaining key levels of support.
Volume and Resistance Test
Continuous attempts to break through important resistance areas tend to attract more attention from traders and investors, especially if buying activity persists. Technical observers believe that Ethereum's ability to stick to its accumulation range shows that despite high selling pressure, its underlying demand remains resilient.
Crypto Patel suggested that if Ethereum can clearly break through this resistance level, it may trigger a large rise. The analyst predicts that the initial target price will be $5,000; if momentum is maintained, the target for further increases may hit $10,000 or even as high as $15,000. If Ethereum confirms a breakthrough, this trend could reshape its market structure and potentially ignite broader bullish sentiment across the cryptocurrency sector.
Recent market data shows that activity is intensifying as Ethereum approaches key resistance levels. Data from analytics provider CoinGlass showed that Ethereum's 24-hour trading volume surged 12.44% to $42.88 billion, indicating increasing engagement among traders and investors. Rising volume near large price barriers is often seen as a constructive sign, as breakthroughs backed by strong market activity tend to attract more confidence and subsequent buying momentum.
Meanwhile, open interest on Ethereum derivatives remained stable at approximately US$33.44 billion despite increased trading activity. Analysts interpreted this as a signal that the size of market participants is expanding and leverage risk has not increased significantly.
Institutional accumulation intensifies
Institutional interest in Ethereum also seems to be growing. Blockchain data analysis platform Arkham emphasized that Blackstone's Ethereum exchange-traded fund ETHB acquired US$13.9 million worth of ETH during a recent trading session. Instead, funds ETHA and FETH recorded net outflows during the same period.
In the past 20 trading days, ETHB has reportedly purchased $251.4 million of Ethereum without any net daily outflows. This continued inflow comes at a time when Ethereum is facing another key technological turning point. As technical pressure increases, market participants often view continued institutional accumulation as a potential basis for price support.
Still, analysts note that capital flows can fluctuate rapidly, so sustained buying behavior is needed before clear institutional trends are confirmed.
Small Dictionary: Arkham is a blockchain analytics company focused on tracking the liquidity and on-chain activity of major cryptocurrency assets to enhance transparency.
Network upgrades and future prospects
In addition to technical aspects and funding flows, Ethereum's long-term fundamentals are also attracting attention due to upcoming protocol enhancements. Research group Coin Bureau cited data to highlight proposal EIP-8141, which would allow users to use stablecoins instead of Ethereum to pay for network gas bills. This feature will allow an app or wallet to override transaction fees and charge users in stablecoin, allowing funds to be sent without directly holding ether.
The proposed update will also introduce "Frame Transactions," which are designed to bundle approvals and swaps into a single operation and provide advanced security options to protect against future threats, including quantum computing risks. The rollover plan for these features is scheduled in Ethereum's Hegotá upgrade, which is expected to be launched in 2027.
Ethereum is currently at a crossroads where technical resistance, increased engagement, institutional purchases and major network updates meet. Whether Ethereum can achieve breakthroughs from the resistance area it has formed over the years remains a core issue in the market. Crypto Patel believes that once a breakthrough is confirmed, the price could reach US$5,000, and further potential looks towards US$10,000 and US$15,000, supported by continued demand and network progress.
The confluence of resistance testing, trading activity, institutional capital flows and network innovation may shape the decisive next move for Ethereum.
