The supply of Ripple's U.S. dollar stable currency RLUSD hit another record high, coexisting with the inflow of XRP spot ETF funds.
As the supply of U.S. dollar-backed stable currency RLUSD issued by Ripple approached a record high of US$2.44 billion, the asset has once again become the focus of the market. The milestone comes amid reports that XRP spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are attracting large amounts of capital. Although these two developments occur simultaneously, the available data more strongly confirm the growth power of stablecoins themselves than any causal relationship between them and demand for exchange-traded funds.
The core of this headline is to compare record RLUSD issuance with reported inflows of ETF funds. According to unconfirmed news, RLUSD's circulating supply hit approximately US$2.442 billion this week, while independent data shows that XRP spot ETFs are one of the fastest-growing capital attractions in the sector. The verifiable dataset supports the authenticity of the size of the supply record, but does not confirm the ETF statement and its causal framework.
stablecoins hit all-time high in report
The protagonist of the story is the Ripple Dollar (RLUSD), which the company designed to always anchor its value at 1 dollar and can be converted to U.S. dollars in a 1:1 ratio. This identity is crucial because the simplified title never identifies specific assets and the record is about supply rather than price.
Which stablecoin indicator set a record?
The record indicator is circulation supply rather than market value or high token price highs. DeFiLlama's stablecoin list snapshot shows that as of September 14, 2026, a total of 2.42258 million RLUSDs were in circulation on both chains, which is independent of daily historical endpoint data.
The claim of a "historical high" is close to the truth but has not yet been fully supported. The daily series of data obtained shows that the peak occurred on September 9, 2026 (UTC), reaching 2.441.34 million RLUSD. This is the highest value in the series and not an independent audit confirmation of the reported intraday high of $2.442 billion.
Regardless of the exact peak, the growth trajectory is very steep. The DeFiLlama report shows that in the week before the current snapshot, RLUSD supply was 2.40688 billion units; a month ago, it was 1.716.12 billion units. This growth puts the token well above the level it was when it first exceeded its market value of $500 million.
Circulation is distributed across two networks that Ripple names the native RLUSD chain: XRP Ledger and Ethereum. The current balance shows that 1.36963 million RLUSDs are held on Ethereum, while 1.052.94 million are held on XRP Ledger. Although the token is positioned around XRP, Ethereum is still a larger hosting platform.
XRP spot ETFs and stablecoins simultaneously attract capital
The second half of the title describes how the XRP spot ETF absorbs large amounts of capital, but during the verification process, no specific date flow data, fund names or measurement cycles are left. According to unconfirmed reports, these products are in strong demand; however, the underlying ETF net flow table returned an access error and could not be read.
Net flow and assets under management
Due to the lack of a verified dataset, the article was unable to determine which XRP spot ETF products or jurisdictions the statement covered, nor could it distinguish net capital inflows from total subscriptions, trading volume or assets under management. These differences are important: a fund can announce a large asset management scale (AUM) without new capital inflows, and trading volume is not equal to committed capital.
In addition, there is no evidence of the composition of investors, so attributing any inflows to institutional investors would be excessive speculation. XRP's own market background is mixed, with the token trading price of approximately US$1.35 and a market value of nearly US$84.9 billion, falling by approximately 1.3% in the 24 hours of the snapshot.
What can these developments tell readers about XRP requirements?
The title juxtaposes the supply record of stablecoins with ETF capital activity, but the study does not establish a causal relationship between the two. Concurrent growth does not equal a causal relationship, and there is no dataset that connects the issuance of RLUSD to the purchase of XRP.
Separating stablecoin growth from XRP purchases
RLUSD, XRP and XRP Spot ETFs are three different tools. According to CNBC's report when Ripple announced the product in April 2024, RLUSD is a dollar-linked token backed by 1:1 deposits, government bonds and cash equivalents, and provides monthly attestations;XRP is a volatile network asset; and ETF only provides price exposure to the asset.
The growth in RLUSD supply reflects demand for U.S. dollar instruments, a pattern that can also be seen in record RLUSD borrowing data released by lending platforms such as Aave, and the expansion of payment tracks such as Visa for stablecoin settlement. None of this will mechanically translate into buying pressure on XRP, nor will it predict price movements.
Broader market sentiment provides only a weak background reference. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index currently reads at 57, or "Greed," which is a measure of the overall market rather than any signal for specific XRP needs or ETF needs. The most solid conclusion at the moment is that a stablecoin with a close record of true supply is coexisting with an ETF story that data cannot yet confirm.
